My Life Is Yours

“You can’t do this to me!” Sara screamed at him as he walked away.

She looked around the room. At the emptiness that surrounded her. At the tiny figure peering quietly from the dim bedroom. Oh, he wouldn’t see her suffer. He would see her succeed.

“Two long years,” she mumbled to herself. Stroking the little head in her lap, she looked up at the stars. There’s nobody to notice her face become startlingly beautiful in the moonlight. Images from the past flashed through her mind.

Not in her wildest dreams did she think something like that would happen. Her entire being was filled with love. She wasn’t prepared.

His words haunted her. “We’re done!”

The first year was the worst. She buckled under the words thrown at her. She tried to reason; she was pelted with more words. Her family and friends asked her to stop trying. But she held on with all her will. Soon the missiles aimed at her became her strength. She remained positive.

Has this positivity helped her?

Was she naïve to think that being positive is what it takes to live? How could she forget that even pain has a threshold? She’s as human as anybody else, isn’t she? She has feelings too. She’s as susceptible to tears of blood as others.

She tried to turn her tears to happiness. She forced her drooping chin higher and planted a smile for the world to see. Nobody wants to go deeper. They don’t want to be burdened. They have their own lives to live.

She didn’t complain. Even when the loneliness got to her and she was breaking from the inside, she kept her smile alive.

How long did it take for the heart to break into tiny fragments that can never be rejoined? A lifetime? When does this lifetime end? Does she have the power to withstand more of this? Or is she looking forward to the finish line?

She glanced down at the little head in her lap, then bending down, she planted a kiss on the brown tresses, and drew him close to her heart. Her life is not hers, it belonged to someone else. This thought returned the glow to her face and the smile to her lips. The light at the end of the long tunnel shone brighter than ever before. She will live and succeed.

“Mummy?” Innocent brown eyes looked at her questioningly. The dark nightmare that was once her life faded away. Peace, happiness and a sense of purpose enveloped her. “Come on champ. Let’s go to bed.” She purred lovingly.

Well this was sad at first but glad to see the positive beginning. I've said those words more than once and regretted it. Sometimes we don't know what we have until it's gone. Sometimes it's for the best. Who knows. Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏼

If only we knew what the future holds, we might end up with less regrets. But with no crystal ball to guide us, we do the best we can. Thanks for reading. :)

I guess that is the feeling that my parents had when I was a baby.
Strange thing I was talking to a friend at work about why should I have at least a baby. The love and feeling which can not be replaced by anything. A unique experience... someone to love you to say mommy or daddy, someone that needs you and for whom you live for.
Someone that, when you grow older, cannot wait to see or hear... Your life, your blood, your everything.
Stop crying now and post this...

Sorry for the delayed response. True, nothing compares to that feeling. It's not just the love one feels. It's also the strength and the ability to take on the world. :) I hope the reason for you getting emotional is your happiness. Following back.
