My Life as a Nurse in the Philippines

in #life7 years ago (edited)

To others new year would be a new beginning and yes it is for me, my contract as a public health health associate just ended and I am not sure if I still got a job this new year. Working as a nurse here in the Philippines is not like how it is in the wealthy countries, here if you are a nurse some people look down on you as maid or just an ordinary caregiver, they don"t mind about how you became nurse how you work hard and study just to get your diploma or how hard it is to pass the nursing board examination.

The reality of being a nurse here in the Philippines, if you are working contractual or a job order in the hospital you will just get 6,000 to 12,000 pesos or $120 to $240 a month, yes you read it right $120 to $240 a month plus a worse case scenario sometimes the ratio is 1 nurse to 30 patients per shift when you are a nurse ward.

But these past few years I can say I was lucky to be a part of the department of health program to deploy nurses with at least better than working in the hospital salary worth of 26,000pesos as month or $520 a month, which is just enough if you are living here in the province because of low cost of living.

As a nurse deployed by the government, we work as a bridge between the gap of people to health center who live in the far flung areas. Together with one to two doctors we conduct medical mission in these far flung areas and also giving them vitamins and medicines for free.

Now that my contract as a nurse ended I am looking forward to go overseas but it will be another expenses if I will do that. For now I can see steemit to help me with my finances while waiting if the government will hire me again or not.

I believe that this year is a good year for me so I am positive that many opportunities will come to me this year. I am also looking forward on the things that will happen in my cryptocurrency ventures. I made a mistake last year by withdrawing all of the earnings and my capital on crypto trading. Now I won't let it happen again.

The thing that marked in my mind last year is the word Patience, if only I have this last year my life could be better now. I learned from my mistake and will not make the same mistake ever again. Like what Aristotle said

Patience is bitter, but the fruit is sweet

The life of a nurse here in Philippines is hard so I am thankful that I am learned about cryptocurrency earlier or else I will be forever nurse just relying on a low salary every month. I am thankful that someone is wise enough that start steemit, Steemit brought another hope to me, now I am looking for a brighter life not just a nurse but also a steemian.
