I'm sure you've heard of "omakase" before, especially Japanese food lover. For those who are not, Omakase means a meal consisting of dishes selected by the chef.

Yesterday was my wife's birthday and she asked if i could take her to Ushiwakamaru, a Japanese restaurant located in 23rd street, NYC. After reading some reviews online, i felt a bit hesitate and went back and forth with my wife discussing whether it's worth or not. At the end, we decided to give it a go.

Anyway, the omakase costs $135 per person for 18 pieces, including a bowl of soup and a dessert (either mochi, jelly or homemade ice cream). For our omakase, we asked for combination of sushi and sashimi as recommended. It's good for someone who dont like to eat too much rice.

So here's what we got last night, in that order, starting with sashimi first:

Anyone else in here is a fan of sushi / sashimi or omakase lover? What's your favorite sushi / sashimi? Where's your favorite Japanese restaurant?
