The face of those who emigrate in Venezuela

What was for me a day of informative work in the passenger terminal, ended up being a shock of emotions and thick drinks. They were large families queuing up on the bus lines to the border regions of Venezuela.

These little brothers said goodbye on Wednesday, June 13. I was able to observe the moment before the departure and they were agitated, counting the cash to pay the passage of both the child and his mother. They had some boxes that they wanted to mount in the suitcase guard, but that crowd prevented the process from being fast. Everyone was desperate and hot.

The older brother (yellow handbag) approached me and said, I want to report a situation, I'm upset and I'm going to talk, can you record ?. - Sure, go ahead, tell me.

-My mother and my brother are going to Colombia and here they are charging three (3) million bolivars to mount some suitcases.

Apart from the pain involved in seeing loved ones leave, people suffer many calamities in order to use transport in Venezuela. The trips start full of tension and sadness. The authorities do not fulfill their function, there is no law and the law seems to be imposed: save yourself who can.

After this episode and the wait of a couple of hours, her mother and her younger brother managed to assemble the suitcases and it was time to say goodbye: The brothers embraced and said words in their ears, they squeezed, they let go, they went back to embrace. The tears flowed. The eldest had great value, but the boy was disconsolate.

The terminals of Venezuela are the reflection of the family fracture. They represent the heartbreaking scenery of the multitude of Venezuelans who daily leave the national territory to other countries to seek better living conditions.

This micro story is just a brushstroke of everyday reality. Sometimes we vanish and other times we are strong. We keep the hope of seeing our loved ones return in a free and democratic Venezuela.

The Venezuelan government denies the diaspora, school desertion, inflation, collapse and mass rejection of the people. The government has in its hands the responsibility of raising the country, but apparently, it seeks to see it destroyed, divided, weakened and impoverished.

Our young people and children leave. We met a lot of the good guys with the cape and the sword of dignity.

We will wait for you brothers ..
