6th Grade Is Not What You Think It is (or what it should be) written by a 6th grader
Now that summer is finally here it means no homework and not being a 6th grader. The school I am at right now would be considered in upper middle class school and grade A, but what happens on the inside is a totally different school.
In the first few weeks at my school, things were not the greatest. If you went to a 8th grade lunch period you would probably the last to get your food because the 8th graders love to push around the 6th graders. Big problems at my school include fights, vaping, and drug use. Apparently at our school a fight breaking someone else's nose results in a three day suspension and it is very rare for a student to get expelled.
When fights happen at our school kids usually stay out of the way which is definitely a good thing and teachers can stop the fights usually very quickly. Fights are usually over a girl, someone said something hurtful, and money. It's quite surprising that my school is considered upper middle class due to the problems. In fact, schools with the same grade as us and same type of area have way fewer fights, but have many kids that vape.
The school board of the state of Florida doesn't do obviously a very good job and in our gym class we have 65 people. It's very difficult (believe me I know) for one gym teacher to handle 65 kids by themselves.
To conclude, 6th grade isn't the easiest thing in the world and has many problems. There are of course good times where everyone learns and has fun. But I can't wait for seventh grade.
