Salute to two legends of my generation

in #life7 years ago (edited)

I am never a red devil fan but was a keen gooner. Still, I respect the sportsmanship of Sir Alex Ferguson and boss Wenger. My thoughts and prayers, and my gratitude to the legends, thank you for bringing us so many excitement and positiveness - on 6 May 2018, the day when one legend was hospitalised due to brain haemorrhage while the other legend had his curtain call at the stadium he witnessed from zero to one.

You know why gunners jerseys are in red? Some Forest players donated their shirts to aresnal and helped them set up the club some 150 years ago.

Ian Wright , bergkamp and Henry were some fine lads could do some superb plays.

I live in the past, Brian Clough was an England and forest legend loved by managers of the day. :-)

It is a disgrace how some firstteam players and fans have been treating Wenger. He should derseve much respect. Forest went down from the top flight in the last season of Clough as forest manager. But fans did give him support and thanks in the last match and some of the fans invaded the pitch to escort the manager back to the changing room.

You studied in London?

My teenage memory was about watching Bergkamp and Henry, legends of my generation (sad that I lost passion staying up until midnight now and can barely remember the fresh players). I was in London 2004-2006 for sixth forms btw :) .

I’m at least 8 years older than you and my A-level came in mid-to-late 90s. Gunners were alright in the top flight back then but it was Man Utd dominating. My team couldn’t hold onto the premiership league and we sunk to the second tier league in 1999 (basically we had gone up and down like riding a roller coaster between 1993 and 1999). And we still have been submerging since then almost 20 years. Almost 20 years of hurt but that doesn’t stop me from dreaming about the reds can bounce back up to the top flight. When? Perhaps wishin thinking.

Read these, our teams somehow have some ties

I’ve been feeling like a weirdo in Asia where i hardly find any forest fans. My comfort moment now is always logging on to Twitter, on there we have massive forest fans there (but we are always outnumbered, look at how many gunners fans you have on Twitter) .

I’m sorry I’m hijacking your post, everytime I talk football, I go crazy and can’t shake off my weak ties with my team for life.

Anyroad, good to know I have one more football fan around me. Talk to you then.

We should have met during my days in London, then probably I could have told you that you were not the only Asian Forest fan. That is not a good memory though - one boarding house-mate always asked me how Forest was doing and complained that her boyfriend was too keen on Forest meanwhile leaving her behind... An old old old story haha, you are not alone.

He was in Nottingham or Nottinghamshire? Asians were miniority (excluding Indians) in Nottinghamshire in the 90s and early 2000s, you know, most were in London like you. And not many of them keen on forest even they were in Nottinghamshire.

But I had respect from my local mates back then, we had one thing in common: The miserable memory you endured. Haha.

Have a good day.

Yes, should be somewhere around Nottinghamshire where my friend did her high school before moving to London for sixth forms. Just I am not familiar with that area, so I have no idea where the high school exactly is.

The area was notorious for being among the highest crime rates in the country ;-)
