Microwave your Mug: Save money, and the environment.

in #life8 years ago

This is a different type of thing than what I normally post, but I have recently discovered something which I would like to share.
I have no idea if this is already known by most people, I was actually forced to do it because my kettle was broken. I needed a cup of tea, so I microwaved a mug of water. After doing it a few times I actually realised it has some huge benefits.

  1. No water wasted, you heat the exact amount you need.
  2. Less water used so faster than boiling the kettle.
  3. Less energy used because less water boiled.
  4. Once you've done it enough times you know the exact amount of seconds it takes to get the perfect drinking temperature!
  5. You get a nice "ding" when it's ready!

My posts are usually about futurology and how we're all screwed. If we want a chance of survival, I think it's small changes like this which could really help us!

Happy sipping :)

The soil in the "microwaved water only" pot is really really wet, while the soil in the "purified water" pot is not nearly as wet. He obviously didn't control for the volume he was adding and over watered the one plant (perhaps on purpose).

Microwaves just happen to be of the correct frequency to result in the water absorbing and releasing some of the energy as heat. They don't cause any changes to the water molecules.

Some random guy who knows has no scientific background (obvious from his name-dropping of random chemicals and proteins with no further explanation) who is using a 10-year-old girl's science project as evidence for his theory? So what?

I've been microwaving my tea for years :D

It honestly saves me time not having to wait for my kettle to boil.
