Sports Day at the Farm
We had a very beautiful day this past Sunday. This is very rare in Western Pennsylvania in January. We completely made the best of it by getting outside in the sunshine. It was 41°f (5°c). This may seem cold to some but for us, it was amazing. We have spent the majority of our weekends on the couch watching movies after swim meets. We haven't spent a full day outside at the farm in forever.
So we made the most of it by doing absolutely everything we like to do in the summer, all at once, in one day!
First we hit golf balls at the driving range in front of our barn. For some reason I was in charge of ball collecting. Can you see the golf cart in the background?
Next, we did some skateboarding. This is our skateboard ramp. It's 6 x 20 ft. Would you drop in on this beast?
Then, we did a bit of bmx on the basketball court. The kids got out their bikes and used some of their wood plank jumps to make my heart race.
It was time for some basketball. Mom (me) had to come out of retirement and show them how to hit a jumper. Basketball was how I paid for college.
Finally, I hit the trail with my running partner and best friend for 6 gorgeous miles in the sun. Isn't the trail beautiful? It kind of looks like fall.
So today it's Thursday, and now we have snow on the ground. Mother Nature always has the last say doesn't she? But I would like to thank her for giving us a magnificent day in January.
