Are we really Free?
Freedom...have you ever thought, what does this word mean? Are we really free as human beings? I look at freedom as I am a free on my own, and I am a who I am. In this life I am not sure we can be free, we can be who we are but can't fully act as free. There is rules and government that stop your fully act of freedom because it stand in front of you . We can't just do what you want there is someone where going to stop you . Of course not doing anything bad or harm people but yet act as fully free, not just government as well as society.
I as a muslim American, whose parents are Palestinians. Born and raised in America yet lived in Palestine for eight years. living the definition of freedom isn't about speech or about actions, perhaps living in peace with in your self having peace in your home, sleep in the night not afraid of losing your family. That's the real freedom, feeling there is no need to fear. You wake up in morning go to school and come back, without your mom worried about you being hurt. Having peace with your heart and mind . That's freedom!
When I came back to America and slept the first night, I slept the entire night. When I wake up the next morning I said to my mother I slept the entire night mom I didn't have to wake up! It was very peaceful. I said to myself is this the feeling of being truly free. The next week I entered school and started going to school on the bus I was amused and felt as I don't need to fear a thing, because back in Palestine to go to school ,we had to go throughout checkpoints and sometimes delayed to either go to school or come back home.Coming Back here gave me that freedom feeling. I felt as a child here i am feeling my childhood , and have goals and go to college and be something. And I got to see different race and different religions and different color . It was a total change and for a minute I felt freedom.
Time has passed and as I grew up, I started to see living here in America wasn't as free as I thought It was . Free from War but not free of racism, and islamophobia. People judging you without even knowing you. I am just as any other American, I care for my society I care for the country that opened its arms to my great parents, I live my life based on being a good person and making a change, go to school and educate myself and be useful. I am a Muslim born in Philadelphia, PA and Muslim in America aren't treated fairly, as any other Americans. I have had people who gave me the looks, and sometimes saying words that were unpleasant, I understand no races or religions are perfect. So I feel as I went back to where I first started. No freedom
Freedom is a very expensive thing, and no matter how rich you we can never afford buying it. Life can be unfair sometimes and we just have to just keep trying to always to be better. Because in my opinion freedom can never be found nor given no matter where are we or who we are.
Freedom is a state of mind, think Free! be Free!
Yes, I agree with you that freedom can never be found nor given no matter where are we or who we are ...
That right Robert, and Im thankful for the freedoms that i do have as we all should.
It is indeed true as you've said," Freedom is a very expensive thing, and no matter how rich can we be we can never afford buying it."
That's life and we must change the way we think, because we believe were free and act like were free, our actions will be that of a free person.
