My Second Job

in #life7 years ago

It is undeniable that the basic living cost has increased tremendously over the past twenty years. In fact, it increased since many decades ago but I can only feel the difference between twenty years ago and today because I only exist in this world for twenty-plus years. When I was a primary student, school canteen sell a plate of noodles for RM3.50 but now you can only find a plate of noodles sell at RM5.50 to RM7. It almost doubles in a decade time. So, how can we maintain the same quality of life if our income stagnant or just having slightly increase? We can’t change the inflation rate and our spending less likely to decrease especially when you need to support a family as a breadwinner. Hence, it is quite common seeing people using credit card or living paycheck to paycheck.

Most of the employee has limited growth in terms of income unless they make a change like job-hopping or becoming their own boss. It can be very demotivating when you know you need more money but your current job cannot fulfill this. Everyone hopes to leave the rat race as soon as possible and aiming for financial freedom. But we all knows success doesn’t come by chance and it need persistence, commitment and hard work for at least few years. In the meantime, people opt for a second job or even better, let money work for you.

For me, Steemit is a second job and it is an investment as well. We need to build reputation, gain followers and sharing articles. If you seldom engage in this “job” you will less likely be rewarded. It is fair enough because you get rewards when you work hard. On the contrary, if you just simply post unrelated articles or spamming others, you might get flagged as a warning. Everyone can monitor what you post, comment and upvote easily. For those people who believe Steemit will have unlimited growth in the future, they will invest money in it and get some Steem or SBD in returns. If you want to achieve something great, you need to have faith in it, this is what I always told myself.

I think as the cost of living continues to rise people will have to have a second job unless they are high on the corporate ladder. Fortunately the internet has given everyone a chance to create additional forms of income!

Exactly. I'm grateful to know Steemit at its early stage and I'm among the earliest in my circle of friends.

Yep me too!!

If only we were being paid in cryptocurrencies like bitcoin...we could have beaten this ever growing inflation.

But since we're not, we need to work harder and look for second jobs or invest in businesses.

You're right, we need to work harder while we still can. I keep telling myself that spend time reading and improve my knowledge is the most important investment because our knowledge is the invaluable asset that shouldn't be underestimated. To think in this way, I can persuade myself to engage in Steemit as often as possible.

Definitely

nice sharing:) all the best
