RE: Is it your Brain that dictates your Heart or is it vice-versa?

in #life8 years ago (edited)

I have a different take on it, based on biology and the work of James Bonnet. If you think about it, we evolved with a succession of brain tissue superseding all the layers beneath it. On the brainstem there is the lizard brain which controls respiration and is a large part of our lower emotions, for example anger and hate. This is overlaid by the mammalian brain, and finally this is a overlaid by the neocortex. Advanced emotional processing occurs in the neocortex; including things like honor and duty and love.
Both higher and lower processing occur simultaneously. We can be pulled down into anger and hate or we can rise up into love and respect. We all walk a tightrope between heaven and hell in this way, on a tightrope between the lower evolved brain and the higher evolved brain.
It seems to be a natural proclivity, this inner conflict we endure and interestingly, which we replicate in our society and take enjoyment of, in our literature, movies and art.
In any event we need to pay attention to the tightrope and consciously choose between the heaven and hells we can create in our own lives.

Scientifically speaking, your explanation is impressive. We took things in two different perspective, that is why, there is no way we could argue about this topic.
