Healing In Forgiveness
He knelt down with a rose flower in his hand and a pack of chocolate in the other hand, his eyes were misty as he begged his girlfriend of many years to forgive him.
”I know I have hurt you by cheating and lying about it for years. All I want is your forgiveness so that I can heal and life continue with us as couple.”
She looked at him with so much pain, the trust was gone but the love never left. All he said were words but if she could fall in love with him with such words, she could forgive him. She drew him up and hugged him tight. From that moment, her heart forgave him. He changed because he knew the value of what he had. She forgave because she knew love oversees everything.
I have heard people speak out of restropects to say they can't forgive because of grievances issues but there is healing in forgiveness if we can look it at from this angle. When you don't forgive, you bear the cross in your mind and carry it around. That is a burden. When you eventually forgive and let go, it becomes less of a burden and more of a story.
Part of forgiveness is second chance and personally, I don't give more than second chances. The first chance is the knowing process, different people from different backgrounds running a relationship. There is tendency of messing up coming from trying to adapt to each other. When issues come up and the other party realizes the mistake, it paves way for second chance and final straw.
The saying that ”once bitten, twice shy” applies here. That is why second chance is the last straw. Second chances mean I have forgiven you, now let's make this bond stronger or let's right our wrongs. I hope someone is getting my point.
There is healing in forgiveness if we can absorb the pain and see beyond the present and past. Call someone today and forgive him/her so that someone else can call you for forgiveness too. Life is a 360 degree cycle. What is head to you today may be tail to you tomorrow. Thank you for taking your time out to read this, see you soon.
