Some months back i went through a challenging situation , where i got to realize who cares and who doesn't.
There was a beautiful poem i stumbled upon while surfing the net lying down in the hospital bed, the poem expresses how people in our lives are like parts of a tree , we have the leaves, the branches and the roots.
Been faced with this situation, i recognized the type of friends i had, then i started building the new as i shed the old.
I allowed my self to grow and be pulled up, realizing that not ever lose is a loss.

I realized That the people that are like leaves on a tree in my life, are only meant to be in my lives for a temporary period of time.
Leaves like most friendship are amazing in the beginning, but take more than they are willing to give , offer very little support and help, especially through troubled seasons.
They were never meant to be permanent because when things get tough, they are easily blown away.

People who are like branches are the ones that says, "i'm here for you,"
"you can depend on me" but as soon as things get tough they break off because they cant carry the weight.
These branches are there for some time, they provide some purpose but they don't last for very long time either
eventually, these branches all break off and disconnect.

The people who are like root are permanent..
These are friends that went through every thing with me, they go to hell and back, they break apart, fall apart only to build again, refuel, just to re energize me with what i need, these friends stay strong and became my foundation, when all else fails.
When the leaves were blown away, the branches had broken off yet they never left me.

Real friends can't make our problems disappear but they will definitely not disappear when we are going through our problems.

When you recognize the type of friends you have in your life then you are opening up your life to more deep, meaningful and fulfilling relationships.
