@manfaluthi in my understanding, this has been an always a matter of a hard choice between family and duty. Keep in mind the two important factors.

1. Naruto is an orphan. He had no parents with him throughout his life, throughout his childhood. He had no background to see how healthy father-son relationship should work.

2. Kage screw up as fathers in general. We don't really see the Kage family relationship throughout the series. The only ones we know about is 4th Kazekage and Gara or 3rd Hokage and Asuma relationship which is anyway based on Asuma's flashbacks. And what do we know?

None of them was a good father. Both, Asuma and Gara felt lonely and the only thing they ever wanted was spending more time with their fathers.

Now, I'm not trying to defend Naruto in any way. I'm only trying to understand the difficult position he puts himself as a Hokage. He is the strongest shinobi in the village. It is his duty to care about everyone, to protect them. This is not the easiest thing to do, you know.

However, I think that Boruto is constantly growing up. He is waaay more mature than 50 episodes ago. He has much more understanding for the work his father has to do. We can see that even at the end of Boruto: Naruto the Movie. What do you you think @manfaluthi ? Have Boruto grown up at all in your eyes?
