A Surreal Swiss Morning and Film Photograph
In the middle of December, on top of a mountain beside Zurich, above the fog, you gaze as the sun rises at 5:30 am over the Swiss alps in the distance. It warms you and begins to melt the frost that covers all the trees. The colours are vivid, the day is cystal clear, and the mountains stand like spirits across the carpet of clouds. Snap. You take this photo, and never imagine how it would look when developed.
Upon development, you're shocked with how it turns out. The graininess and shadows give the photograph a dark feeling. The image is almost abstract, with hard to distinguish features and colours that do not looks anything like real life. However, the sun flare perfectly brightens the composition, and upon closer inspection, you can begin to see the mountains and the trees peeking up through the clouds.
This image does a great job of describing my experience that morning in Switzerland. It was surreal, it felt like a dream.
