Grateful for the Good of the Steemit Community

in #life6 years ago

It’s Thanksgiving season here in the United States and my family has a tradition of celebrating the holiday by choosing something we are grateful for and sharing it with the rest of the family. Choosing something this year was easy for me!

I joined Steem about a year ago and I have been amazed ever since about how much the community here supports each other and by what people can do around the world with the money that they have made from posting on Steemit. Apps like Steepshot and Musing.io have allowed for more versatility and increased the ways you can engage and interact using the Steem blockchain.

Using an Upvote to Better Your Family’s Lives

The first time I realized just how global Steemit was, I was a mentor in @promo-mentors and one of the men I had mentored was awarded an upvote from Curie that was worth about $70 at the time. It was his first Curie upvote and we were all SO EXCITED for him because a coveted upvote from Curie is something to be celebrated. Seventy USD is a good amount of money to anyone but to him it meant way more than to some of us.

To him, that $70 was enough to feed his family for at least a month in the area of the world where he lived. That was incredible to me because $70 here is about a week’s worth of food if we are lucky, it was hard for me to fathom feeding a family of 4 for a month on $70 but to him that was enough to feed his family well!

Sometimes, we take advantage of the blessings that we are given and I am guilty of that myself. Being told of his story in the group was eye opening for me and made me realize the endless possibilities available to anyone in Steem. The price is down right now, sure, but that doesn’t mean we can’t still have our communities and our friendships!

Paying for House Repairs

My house has needed repairs for a couple of years now and I just haven’t set aside the money to take care of things because I had other financial priorities. I, also, didn’t want to cash out any of my crypto but lately I have realized that we should be using cryptocurrency as a currency as much as possible if we are to get it to mass adoption.

I have been writing more content lately for my Steem account and using some of the money for house repairs. It really does add an element to the work that I put out and gives me a sense of satisfaction. I want to fix up this house, sell it, and travel more. That is my ultimate goal right now and Steem is helping me accomplish that goal!

What are you grateful for when it comes to the crypto community? I would love to hear your thoughts!

Thanks for reading,

Ivy

I too have been on Steemit for about a year and have found the same things you have here - a sense of belonging, sharing, caring, and community. It is so refreshing and my days have become so much brighter because of the people I have met here. Steem has enriched my life and expanded my knowledge and understanding of the world beyond measure. I am thankful for this experience every day, and gave special thanks this past Thursday.

So glad you have had a great experience here! We are blessed to have somewhere to go every day to talk to friends and share ideas. The best ideas have come from kicking around thoughts and ideas with like minded people. The communities formed here have really changed the way that business is conducted. Love it!
