Would you be able to survive if the world ended?
Let's say the world were to end by 'World War' and majority of mankind were blown up and wiped off of existence. Or maybe a zombie apocalypse happened and you have to survive with a bunch of hungry zombies for your brain. Or maybe we cause a global weather scenario where our own planet turns on us with the worst natural disasters we've ever seen, you've still got to ask yourself... Could you survive without all the pampers of our current status quo?
In either scenario, your odds of dieing from the new wild world grow significantly. According to a provocative theory by Harvard biologist Richard Wrangham, who believes that fire is needed to fuel the organ that makes possible all the other products of culture, language included: the human brain. Fire is indeed deeply embeded into our past that has made us more human than animal, but if need be, could you even make a fire once all of the lighter fluid is gone? all of your lighters? could you be in the woods and just make a fire with wood and friction? How prepared are you really?
Once the presence of humans withers away, the other life that we have condemned to the outskirts will come to roam what we left behind. Maybe you'll be susceptible to hungry grizzly bears, or a hungry pack of dogs that don't see human obedience anymore as a beneficial relationship, or zombies, or mutant bugs. However far you want to imagine the end of the world, will you be able to defend yourself when all guns are gone? Left to your primitive instincts? Let's say you have a gun, there is only so much ammo in the world, could you make more? Do you know how to repair even the simplest of household items? or do you just go out and buy another.
These elementary questions that we seem to forget are being answered by other people, but what happens when those people are gone. Do you have the knowledge and wisdom to survive? Could you re-make electricity? Could you build an efficient shelter? Could you be a leader to other lost people, or will you follow. We don't often ask ourselves these questions, because we are more often than not following blindly to what others dictate. The main reason I want to ask you all this question, is so you may acknowledge just what type of man/woman you are. Place yourself in these scenarios and think... How much do you really know about how or why the world behaves the way it does...And do you have what it takes to control a wild world that has more a natural basis than our own system we've built.
yes I will !! :P
Sadly, I wouldn't survive a week, foraging in a national park...
