8 things to avoid when working from home

in #life8 years ago

Moving from your office cubicle into your apartment sounds like a dream, but doing it may be harder than one can imagine, weather one works from home one day a week or one week a month.

  1. Workstation
Now that you sealed your deal to work from home, you should feel comfortable, but not too much. It is important to have a space in the house that is exclusively devoted to work to avoid distractions and slouching into other holey tasks.

  2. Fight Off Diversions
Make sure that your children have day care, or will completely derange your productivity.

  3. No TV
There are always episodes of TV shows that you left behind, but you should strongly avoid watch any of these in the hours devoted to your work from home.

  4. No naps
Naps can be the quicksand of productivity. No matter how little you slept the night before, you should have no excuse to take a nap or they could roll into hours of lost productivity and unanswered emails.

  5. Don’t clean the house
The house can be calling you with tasks like mopping the floor or take off some dust from your shelves, but this is not your work and you should take a specific time to these tasks outside your work-from-home hours.

  6. No Youtube
Youtube always offers amazing distractions and invites you to see more and more videos of conspiracy theories and interesting independent travel documentaries that you never thought you cared about until you find yourself hooked on it for hours.

  7. Don’t snack
Besides being bad for your waste line, snacking can easily be a cause of distraction. Avoid eating outside of your main meal times.

  8. Keep a routine
Keep always the same routing while working from home. DO not change habits or you can easily slip into laziness and sloppiness.
