I wouldn't even say most. And its not just restricted to women, men are just as guilty of this idea.
It comes from the pop culture dictating what is and isn't beautiful, and so we strive to emulate these unattainable statuses. Really, its a mental disorder if you think about it. A disorder is something that makes it so you cannot live a fully functional life - these individuals sometimes get so caught up in their fantasies that they cannot shatter the facade or risk severe mental breaks, so they do anything they can to keep up the illusion.
I agree with you. It is a disorder
