COMPATIBILITY IS GROUNDS FOR BOREDOM.

We are acquainted with the predictable plots in the Hollywood movies we all love and know. As the curtain is about to rise get your popcorn and coke, sit down comfortably as the scenes unfold.

Scene 1: The camera rolls to a small, unkempt bedroom where a 35 year old man, Clem Shyeface is reading an autobiography. Clem is an easy going but shy nerd who smirks uncertainty and lack of composure ,he seems like one who can get hold of his reflexes on time . Clem hasn't dated in 4 years and he often feels helpless and lonely.

Scene 2: An hour later Clem is seen outside his apartment heading towards a shopping mall. Owing to his lack of composure Clem bumps into a young and beautiful lady in the process knocking out all the shopping bags from her hands. Christie Blondegorge bends to pick up her things while Clem assists her. As it seems to be Christie is not only beautiful but also outgoing. She works part time as a costumer representative in a telecommunications firm.
In contrast to Clem who is a conservative Republican, Christie is a flaming liberal. Stupidly Clem asks Christie for a date. Christie laughs and tells Clem she is in a romantic relationship with business tycoon.

Scene 50: After 6 months Clem bumps into Christie again at a restaurant and in his usual manner knock over all the plates and drinks she was carrying. He manages to apologize and asks for a date, Christie having broken up with her lover seems to find him admirable.
The scene ends with Clem proposing to Christie on his knees with a ring as she finds him irresistible despite their clear differences.

This plot attempts to ascertain the undisputed fact that opposites attract. Films, novels and sitcoms are replete with stories of diametrical opposites falling passionately in love. Websites associated with matchmaking have discovered that people of different personalities tend to make out better than people with the same nature. Its often believed that compatibility is the grounds for a relationship but in actuality its the grounds for boredom.

Relationship experts are convinced that people who are opposite in character tend to complement each other better. Its just a normal law of nature. The major reason for this is that it would be like moving in a viscious unending cycle when you are in a relationship with some one with whom you share the same personality. Life is more meaningful when you discover things on a daily basis. Can you imagine how life could be for a cold unadventurous couple, or a couple whose lifestyle is characterised by shouting and nagging owing to high temperament. There's nothing new to be discovered. No clue on how to understand yourselves and find a possible way of making something good out of your differences.

Similarity in personality traits doesn't seem to serve as a good predictor for initial attraction. Its also a predictor of marital stability and happiness. So if you are messy and disorganized its advisable you find somebody who is a neat freak.

The psychology behind opposites attracting opposites is founded on the fact that it serves as a good story for you and others thereby making you happy.
Its more heartwarming to spend hours chatting with someone who is less fanatical than you. Humans differ in strength ,intelligence and intuition. We feel more confident when walking with someone can compensate for our weaknesses. Why do people say they are looking for their missing rib?

Take for instance, in electrity two similar bodies cannot produce any charge, it takes two different charges to bring about a spark, it takes two different people to tango. Your IPhone battery cannot work if the negative and positive sides are not charged.

Being with someone who has no different perspective regarding your views might seem relatively dull and uninteresting. Love sparks off when you discover that that guy or girl you are chatting with is more experienced and widely travelled than you are.
It gets more interesting when people relate interracially. A lot of people love going out on dates with people from other races because there seems to be something interesting about where he or she comes from. You get to know of other cultures most times via marital exploration.
Relating with people who share similar views with you is good but it seems like reading a single page over and over again without turning over, it all leads to boredom.
