Did You Know Elon Musk Created Own School For His 5 Kids? Neither did I!

Ad Astra

Meaning "To the stars" is the name of the school and how is it different from schools we are used to? Let me tell you.

First of all, there are no grades! In Musk's own words "There's no grade one, grade two type of thing and making all the children go in the same grade at the same time like an assembly line"

Principle number 1

Musk then goes on to tell how some people love various topics, from math to music and how it makes more sense to cater the education to match students aptitudes and abilities.

Principle number 2

It's important to teach problem solving - Teach the problem not the tools. Musk uses teaching how engines work as an example here.

" More traditional approach would be to say we're going to teach all about screwdrivers and wrenches and you even have a course on screwdrivers or wrenches and that is a very difficult way to do it"

"Much better way would be like here's a engine, let's take it a part. How do we take it a part? Oh, you need an screwdriver. That's what screwdriver is for. And then very important thing happens which is that the relevance of the tools becomes apparent"

"Kids are loving it"

Musk personally hated going to school when he was a kid, even going as far as describing it as a torture! But his kids complain about vacations being too long and how they would want to go back to school! Some weird thing must be happening at Ad Astra.

A new school system created by the community itself. Would be awesome to see that happen.
We surely would proceed with UBUNTU.

Something like this could be funded via Steem when it is more widely adopted.
