I like this post. It reminds me of a box turtle I had as a pet when I was just a wee lad. Being a child of the late 80's early 90's, I was a fan of TMNT and aptly named him Raphael. Now Raph was so cool with what he was fed, be it worms, lettuce, tomatoes, and even fried bacon (loved it)! As a child 5 yrs of age with domesticated pets for my whole life at that time (dog & cat) I once figured I could show my affection for Raph the same as family, dogs and cats; and went to kiss Raph on the head. Now I don't know if he thought I was going to eat him or if he thought my lip was a juicy worm, but he reach out and bit down. I imidiately panicked and dropped Raph where he proceeded to dangle from my lip like a piercing. And there is my true story that you helped me remember.
