INTRODUCTION
During our lunch break at the floor outside the college's classrooms, I and my friends recalled about the shows we watched when we were still kids. To my surprise, we had a lot in common given that we were so far away from each other - like, hundreds to a thousand kilometer/s away. The genre of the shows we watched widely varies and includes cartoon, stop motion, anime, and live action.
In the previous part, we tackled the first set of anime. With 5 shows remaining, we're down to the last episode. Here they are:
Naruto
Naruto is an anime ninja series centered to the life of Naruto - an ordinary boy who lives by himself. On his daily life, he encounters thoughts on how it could have been if he had not been alone. But also, he encounters with the people in a ninja academy to where he trains. Naruto is special with his foolish personality in that he always gets noticed by the people around him, even his teachers and the village's Hokage. But that's not only that which makes him special, for he has a demon fox sealed inside him. This demon fox is capable of destroying even the very continent where they all live. Naruto aired in manga from 1999 until 2014 with the plots widening from himself to (spoiler alert) his world's existence. It has been praised by many manga artists and fans all over the world, which includes me. I loved Naruto because of its depth but mainly because evolution of its characters. The Naruto character is famous for his catchphrase "Dattebayo!" which was translated in English dubbed series as "Believe it!"
Doraemon
Doraemon is a slice of life (kinda) anime series featuring Nobita - a regularly bullied boy, and Doraemon - a robot sent from the future. Doraemon's purpose is to help Nobita with his everyday struggles using futuristic gadgets grabbed from his tummy patch, which goes wrong instead getting them into more trouble. Doraemon's background is that he's a robot from the future, sent by Nobita's descendants, so that their lineage successfully continues.
Inuyasha
Inuyasha is a supernatural anime series set in Feudal Japan. Its story starts with a girl named Kagome who gets grabbed by a demonic centipede to transport her to the past through a well. The centipede's purpose? To obtain a jewel embedded inside Kagome, which grants a wish to whoever obtains it. In that scene, Kagome finds a half-human half-dog named Inuyasha, who was pinned on a tree with a sacred arrow. She sets him free and he helped but during the battle, Kagome was extracted off the jewel. Further fights broke the jewel into shards and scattered in every direction across Japan. From there, Inuyasha and Kagome are set to find those shards. But little did they know that it was destiny - for the owner of that jewel was the former lover of Inuyasha.
Hitman: Reborn
Hitman: Reborn is like a mafia action anime series set in present day Japan. It mainly features a loser boy named Tsuna and a cute baby hitman - Reborn - who is about to change his life. The show starts with Tsuna having to hysterically meet the baby hitman inside their home. Upon seeing a well-groomed baby presenting himself as a home tutor for Tsuna, he and his mom laughed for his cuteness. As the day went by, Tsuna was unexpectedly able to do things he never dared to do before thanks to Reborn and bullets that enabled him to. At the end of the day, Reborn tells Tsuna that he is a candidate of being a mafia boss because of his lineage, to which Tsuna shockingly responds. From there, Tsuna is set to find his guardians as well as get some troubles along the way with other candidates aiming for his position.
Slam Dunk!
SlamDunk is a sport anime series featuring a team of basketball players in Shohoku High School. This basketball team includes Sakuragi - a red haired unpopular guy, Rukawa - a girl magnet, Mitsui - a 3 pointer, and a great shooter or MVP named Riyota. Their captain's name is Takenori. Together, they are set to aim for winning the nationals despite being misfits. This show when not focused in the main plot depicts a love triangle between Sakragi, Haruka - a girl who invited Sakuragi to join the team, and Rukawa - whom Haruka has a crush on. This series can make you laugh for its comical subplots, but also can lift your spirit high and encourage you to never give up. Having loved to play a lot of basketball with my brother when I was little, I loved this show.
