Legal Program of polygamy in Aceh
There was a review of the polemic of polygamy which I discussed in terms of Islam and a woman. Can be read back at this link.

In generally. The response to polygamy has long been discussed and in fact the central government institution in charge of marriage affairs, the Ministry of Religion considers that Law 1/1974 on Marriage has ratified polygamy by describing the requirements of men in detailed and strict polygamy.
At the end of 2018, in Aceh the establishment of a qanun to legalize polygamy was now still in the assessment stage.
New questions may arise. So when is polygamy illegal in Aceh? Whereas national law has also been legalized. Indeed, the condition is to get approval from the first wife. So is this legalization a shield for a husband who asks to remarry to be approved by the first wife? so if this qanun is legalized and polygamy is legalized in Aceh, if the first wife still does not give permission. Will the wife be subject to caning?
The background of the emergence of this qanun is based on the fact that the rise of siri marriage is detrimental to women and children. For this reason, if polygamy is a legal , it is possible to reduce the rate of siri marriage because one man can marry more than one woman, so both the first wife and the fourth wife get the same and status. Here there is the problem of "high rates of siri marriage" and the solution is "legalizing polygamy".
Based on the answers from questions on Instagram, then with student respondents, most of whom are domiciled in Aceh and some outside Aceh, the answer is agreed by reasoning to clarify the status of women who are married and avoid violations of laws, agree to terms and conditions, disagree for reasons new problems, and there are also those who think this is just an intrigue to bring about a sensation.
The response from the community is certainly diverse, is it possible that this qanun is used for certain purposes?
Let's pull the red thread, whatever rules are designed of course for the benefit of the people. Aceh as a special region that has the right to launch regional regulations in the qanun. Referring to Law 11/2006 concerning Aceh Government, the province that holds this special status has the authority to make various provisions based on Islamic law.
Let's think it, if polygamy is legal in Aceh. For example a regent has 4 wives, financially may be fulfilled, regarding other rights may return to each other again. Then, when an event was held to invite the regent's mother in an event. So which regent's mother will be invited? First? Second? Third? Fourth? Or divided according to the regent's decision so as not to cause jealousy. Indeed, when there is a legalization regarding polygamy, it will protect the rights of women and children resulting from the second marriage and so on. In my opinion, legally polygamy is indeed like a sacred fruit, there are two sides that are equally important.
Then, if polygamy is not legalized like what has happened now. The fact is that many siri marriages are certainly detrimental to women because they do not get a clear status. However, try to trace it back, is it not easier to avoid marriage rather than reduce the incidence of siri marriage. Married legally both from religion and law. If you already have a wife, it's good not to marry siri again.
in my opinion, with a heart full of gratitude, there is no need for a siri marriage. So the real problem is the high rate of siri marriage, can also be pressed through a deep understanding of religion to always thank God.
Islamic religion provides a solution to the problems of the household to justify polygamy, but it's good that this is fully understood because it has conditions if men are able to be fair.
dont worry too much, this article is intended to bring together opinions about the proliferation of information about the designation of legalization of polygamy in Aceh. Because this design will still be processed and if it passes at the regional level it will be reviewed again in the interior ministry. We still have time to speak out.
Of course we all want a common good. So, as a good citizen, of course we must respect whatever decisions are made. Thankyou Smart Reader!
