Your Subconscious and Why You Should Listen
We all have this idea of how things in our lives should be, how we should look, who should love us and every single bit of it we picture it as perfect. Because if we reach certain goals, have a certain job, own this and that, that's what it should come to, right? Wrong. Happiness isn't a constant state of circumstances, we are not supposed to be happy one hundred percent of the time, how would we even know how to appreciate it if we never had a bad day.
I believe people can truly be happy, but guess what? It actually takes work. Yeah and it's hard work, for some it may even be the hardest thing they'll ever do because in order to find happiness you first have to learn to deal with your soul, your subconscious, however you want to call it; this is the part of us that society has taught us to suppress, to not listen to it. In doing so we are harming everything that actually makes us who we are, and so we are told to bury it to overlook it and turn to the acceptance of society in order to build ourselves a career, a mindset, our opinions and the way we behave on an everyday basis.
We actually have a "good" reason not to listen to our subconscious, can you imagine, for example, how scary is it for an accountant that does fine at his/her job making good money, to recognize that they'd rather quit and dedicate themselves to taking photographs? That means that they didn't do it right, that means they had it wrong and how scared we are of being wrong. What if this accountant, had they followed their passion, became an amazing artist delighting millions with their work? But they were possibly told that they had to get "an actual job" an "attainable career". Another dream killed, another bitter soul and they probably don't even know where all the bitterness comes from, they haven't gotten to know themselves deeply.
We should be encouraging passions instead of dismissing them, we are all different and that is the beauty of the human soul. We should be teaching our children to know themselves in a way that accepts all and rejects none, to build a society where passions are the drive to all advancements we make as a society in every level.
How to tap into your subconscious
It's not too complicated but it doesn't come all at once either. I'm not going to tell you to go join a church group, or any sort of religion. This you can start doing by yourself.
- Start by finding a place that is relaxing to you.
- Once you decide where, make sure you get yourself in a comfortable sitting position. -I personally like to lay down, but make sure you can stay awake if you do this.
- For five minutes try to sit/lay and just breathe in and out all worry and just let good thoughts come to you.
- Try to actually picture worry and anxiety leave your body with every breath.
You control whatever comes to you, try to reject any negative thoughts, try to have no expectations and most of all be patient with yourself. This meditation is key to be more open to whatever you subconscious has to offer you. You can even encourage your kids to start doing this from a younger age, it's never too late or too early to start.
To end the post, here's a little piece of poetry that I wrote that I think it's relevan to the topic:
We are imperfections
We are petals falling
we are seconds passing
we are everything we try to avoid
we are everything we’re trying to be
we are, even when we don’t want to
We are imperfections
perfectly arranged.
