RE: My history with (Nike) running shoes.

Going for a run together? 😉

Soles are awfull thick...🤣 No serious, what is the function of the rounded heel, is there a theory behind it?

Sort:

They're talking about a energy you get in return, so it's walking lighter, more efficient? But the moving images shows a lot off landing at the heel. Why do they think that's ok? Think I stick with my barefoot style chi running because landing at the heel absorbs a lot of energy. Don't think the 13% return of energy equals the loss? you have more info about it? Interesting to read. Because I like the new idea with the shoe they have.

Well, to the best of my knowledge Nike created the best marathon running shoe with the VaporFly 4%. Which has been extensively tested with marathon runners of course. The evolution in that tech has led to replace the Lunaracers (with the Lunarlon sole technology) with the Epic React line.

I’ve read many reviews in which they claim that these new Epic React Flyknits are the shoes for non marathon runners. Whether you’re an endurance runner or like to go for shorter runs.

I can say that I enjoyed these new ones at least the same as when I started running in the Lunaracer 1 & 3. Perhaps the Epic React does make me (feel to) run more effortless. This could very well be the case. The sole does seem and is indeed thick but I did not notice too much waste of energy when landing but this depends on your running style as well.

I don’t know if I could run with minimalist barefoot type shoes. I need comfort and hard shoes quickly translate into pains here and there.

Vaporfly is indeed the shoe from the Breaking 2 project Nike had earlier this year at the Monza track. But the heel from that shoe looks different than the heel from this one. And Kipchoge is for sure not a heel lander.

Still a strange heel to see. Gonna try them in a shop. Just want to feel what the heel does.

Barefoot is a choice I 'just do it' because I prefer running at the beach. ;)
