Funny Poop Video Triggers YouTube Censors to Remove My Video.

in #life6 years ago

There are about 11,500,000 million videos about poop on YouTube.com, and they removed mine.

According to YouTube, Poop can be violent and insight hate speech.

DON'T REGULATE ME MAN

I remember when YouTube was really just a place to store and share video. What started out as a platform to upload and stream flash videos of babies and cats has now turned into an extremely restrictive platform. YouTube said they are using artificial intelligence to detect spam, copyright violations and to detect vulgar content. I think the settings are too sensitive.

This year a few of my videos have been triggering filters in community guidelines and they are being removed not due to content but do to comments.

As a developer, I'm 100% certain that my videos were sending flags in the comment meta Comments left by bots or distasteful political discourse. (User-generated, third party content.)

Here's the original video but moved to a hidden location from the Poo Poo Police.

An auto-generated email from YouTube said

If a video contains violent or graphic content that appears to be posted in a shocking, sensational, or disrespectful
manner, it's less likely to be allowed on YouTube. We also don't allow content that’s intended to incite violence or >encourage dangerous activities. We review content on a case by case basis and will only make limited exceptions for >appropriate educational, documentary, artistic, and scientific contexts, where the purpose of posting is clear.

So how did a non-violent video trigger the YouTube censors?

Video content restrictions

If a video contains violent or graphic content that appears to be posted in a shocking, sensational, or disrespectful manner, it’s less likely to be allowed on YouTube. We also don’t allow content that’s intended to incite violence or encourage dangerous activities. We review content on a case by case basis and will only make limited exceptions for appropriate educational, documentary, artistic, and scientific contexts, where the purpose of posting is clear.

YouTube’s first-ever , Community Guidelines Enforcement Report! boasts that 8,284,039 videos were removed in the last quarter of 2017, thanks to a “combination of people and technology” that flag content that violates YouTube policies.

YouTube says they have developed powerful machine learning that detects content that may violate our policies and sends it for human review. In some cases, that same machine learning automatically takes an action, like removing spam videos.

But I believe they are looking a meta data in comments to use as a factor to take down videos and these are done by spam bots.

Why The Crackdown.

Social media companies are under tremendous pressure to police their platforms. National security officials press for takedowns of “terrorist content,” parents call for removal of “startling videos” masquerading as content for kids, and users lobby for more aggressive approaches to hateful or abusive content.

Oh wait..The Revenue.

Google is under the "gun" to crack down on anything questionable because advertisers, such as Procter & Gamble Co and Under Armour Inc stopped advertising on YouTube when they unwittingly ran ads alongside videos the companies deemed inappropriate.

In I'm not into hate speech or political rhetoric, I like my sports and marketing channels. But YouTube might end up censoring YouTube into failure.

YouTube Will Be a Sweat Shop of Content for Advertisers

YouTube needs to give creators more controls over their channel and data. Privacy features on YouTube only go as far as limiting the privacy on a video but not the channel. Spam comments and bots are ruining fun and entertaining videos because of distasteful comment meta. Now with tougher rules on monetizing your channel, YouTube will use your content as it's own while you create content for free.

How About a Video Network Backed By Blockchain Technology?

We are not far from a Video Network backed by blockchain technology where creators are rewarded and not punished. Imagine, getting real rewards forr producing amazing content. (Steemit)

YouTube is walking on eggshells to protect viewers and destroying small business creators by tightening monetization standards.

Google has always been king of search but it's only a matter of time until YouTube goes away as a free platform that started out when a father wanted to share his baby videos online.
