Fine Boys can be Brainless

Funny how boys possess stand-alone qualities. Dude is fine, it ends there. Dude is intelligent, it ends there. But for a lady, we suddenly go giddy when a beautiful girl is intelligent. Girl fine, she come know book join. Wow! We even have an alliterative phrase for it — Beauty, Brain, and Brawn.

You may say it doesn't matter. But it does. Because we are subtly defining what a lady should be, imposing limits to what she can be. We are subtly telling ourselves and others that a beautiful lady cannot be intelligent at same time; that she is vain and her essence ends only at beauty.

And when some guys say they desire a beautiful woman, we are quick to say, "beauty is not everything. What if she is beautiful and has no character?" We fear a woman's beauty. But for a boy, we don't care. We don't question the intelligence or character of a fine boy. We don't.

Boys can be beautiful. Beautiful boys can be brainless. And it's a sad thing seeing a fine boy wey no get sense. When we want to talk about how intelligence is a huge plus to the physical attributes of a person, let's not limit it to the ladies.

So always remember this:

Fine girl without brain = Fine boy without brain.
