You will never guess... pictures of my self 20 years ago showing how different it was compared to the present. I love St. Petersburg
Saint Petersburg, Florida is one of America's fastest growing cities. I came to St. Petersburg in February 1998 and since then I have seen the city transform significantly. If I go in detail about how much the city has expanded in all aspects then I will bore you to death. To avoid that, I will briefly go over some information with pictures. Sit back, relax, and enjoy a pleasant experience :)
Back in Time
Just to give you an idea of how the city has changed here are some old pictures that I have found taken 17-19 years ago. I tried googling some pictures but I couldn't find anything good so I decided to upload some of mine from my childhood.
This is probably taken in 1998 in St Petersburg, Florida downtown. This is when I first came to America with my family :)
This is me and my grandmother at the St. Petersburg Pier facing downtown. Just by these pictures you can have an idea of how different it was, but it's only glimpse of what I can show you. In reality the changes are so much more.
History
"St. Petersburg was founded in 1888 by John C. Williams , who purchased the land, and by Peter Demens, who brought the railroad industry into the area. As a part of a coin toss bet, the winner, Peter Demens, named the land after Saint Petersburg, Russia, while Williams opted to name the first hotel built which was named the Detroit Hotel, both named after their home towns respectively" (Source Credit). And if you want to go further back even before me.

I've been in Tampa myself for nearly 15 years and have only been to several of the places in your photos. Hopefully I'll get a chance to check out the rooftop Cafe and the ritzy Hotel Vinny.

Great post, I haven't been to that rooftop bar. We just got our first rooftop bar here in Sarasota at the Westin hotel.
I have to check out the Sarasota rooftop one day. All Florida cities are actually expanding very rapidly.
