The Reason Why You Sleep Too Much
If you ever start to get worried that you’re probably sleeping too much then there’s most likely a problem somewhere.
Sleep is for the weak.
The statement above has grown in popularity and usage over time now but how true is it?
Have you ever gone a whole 24 or 48 hours without sleeping? You’ll most likely find yourself exhausted at the end of the stretch; except you’re not one of us from this planet. To be honest, we all need some shut eye at some point every day and there’s nothing wrong with this. The problem starts when the period of this shut eye begins to eat into time slots that should be used for other activities.
One, and most likely the biggest, reason why you might catch yourself sleeping way too much is that you have nothing that’s keeping you awake. Now if there’s a crazy emergency and all, you know that sleep would be the last thing on your agenda but I’m not talking about the negative stuff.
A person who has something they’re working on, something that gets them very excited, will rarely have enough time to sleep. Now this is true no matter how hard you try to get that extra sleep.
Picture this scenario; so you have this project you’re working on that gets you super excited. You’ve been working all day only to find out that it’s almost midnight. This however doesn’t stop you from working and you continue instead until about 2 a.m when you can no longer fight the sleep. In your head, you’re expecting to wake up by 9 or 10 a.m simply because you slept way too late.
The next thing you know, your eyes pop open and it’s daybreak already. You check the time to see that it’s only just 6 a.m so you try to go back to sleep (because you need the sleep). The only issue now is that instead of going to sleep, their are voice in your head sounding so excited to get back to work. You try to make them understand how much you really need this sleep and all the bad stuff that could happen if you don’t get enough rest; after all, you’ve been asleep for just 4 hours.
This battle continues for about 30 minutes until you realize that you’re probably wasting your time fighting. You know why? Well, because while you’re fighting these voices in your head, you’re not getting your sleep neither are you getting any work done. So instead of having a lose-lose situation, you’re forced to get out of bed and back to work.
You jump out of bed and realize your head is fine and all the things you thought would happen to you if you had just 4 hours of sleep don’t happen.
This is when you realize that sleep is probably for the weak after all. “The weak” here refers to people with nothing to do because the weak do nothing, I guess 🤷🏽♂️.
Okay, so next time you catch yourself sleeping way too much, you should trying to find an exciting project to work on. Create something your entire body system will be excited to look forward to. Planning your day ahead of time could also heighten this excitement especially when the activities scheduled for the day are stuff you don’t want to miss.
What do you think? 🤔
The statemet literally is not true, I mean no matter how strong one is as a human It is a necessity but from the content of your writing I think it is understandable. But still I would prefer if the statement says "too much of sleep is for the weak". Thanks
You're right tho...
When you're excited about a project you're working on, sleep is far from you...
When there's nothing serious to do sleep crawls in...
But I think sleep was specially made for some people like me...
I love sleep any day but it has to be on a comfortable bed or in a comfortable cuddle...
All the sleeping on a desk or in a bus kinda sleep, nahhhhj
I do agree, we seem to need less sleep when we've got exciting stuff to do. But I don't think sleep is for the weak sha...my husband can sleep for Africa when he is on leave from work however he is one of the strongest, most hardworking, most dedicated human beings I know....definitely not a weakling
