Let's Talk—This Is Why You Must Never Let The Fire In You Burn Out!

in #life7 years ago

Don't ever let the fire inside you burn out! A friend said this to me after listening to the story of my comeback in the aftermath of my accident. Somehow in the past few months I was able to turn things around inspite of an on-going minor disability.

Given my circumstances I was able to push through and continue working on the path to a better future for myself. It's incredible how you can achieve what you want through sheer determination, focus and consistency in your approach. My journey on and off Steemit is inspiring said another friend. It's no big deal and anyone can do it I replied.

Sometimes listening to somebody's life experiences and learning from these experiences can leave you feeling inspired, motivated and ready to take on the world. That's all you need sometimes to push you to work towards your goals as life often gets you side tracked.

During these months of recovery I remembered the first time I read an autobiography. It was, "Wings of Fire: An Autobiography of APJ Abdul Kalam." He was the former President of India.

He started out as a young lad who made ends meet selling newspapers during his school days to support his family. He rose from his personal and professional struggles to become modern India's most well known scientist and cherished leader. During his career at ISRO and DRDO he lead the Indian space research, nuclear and missile programs. His work in the defence sector became household names in India.

He overcame several hardships including social inequality growing up but that was never a deterrent to this success. He faced them head-on as he undertook his journey to put India on the map. Today ISRO is one of the most respected organisations in it's domain.

It was early 2001 and I was closing in on 13 years of age. I had bought this book at a local book fair and read it twice in the same year. I thought it was incredible that someone who started from absolutely nothing could rise up the ranks in life.

The words in this book resonated with my thoughts as it taught me that with perseverance you can overcome adversity, with patience you can shed your weaknesses, and with self-confidence and faith in your abilities you can take on this world.

At the time, I was young and unaware of the fact that the world is full of such incredible stories, and that someday I might inspire a handful of friends and acquaintances with a few words of encouragement and experiences of my own. Channel some of my positive energy back into the world that has given me great many experiences and opportunities to succeed.

There are several men and women who have braved the worst this world has to offer and yet made an impact so positive through their hard work and actions that they will be remembered forever for their contributions.

"I was so focused and so driven, there was this fire inside of me that was burning so brightly." ―Kyle Shewfelt

Today as I sit and type this from a hotel room couple of thousand miles from home, I find myself looking back at these past few months where I:

  1. Came back from a deadly accident.
  2. Worked harder than ever before on Steemit.
  3. Donated a large portion of my income to charitable causes in my country.
  4. Subsidise someone's travel cost to SteemFest 2017 when just a year is ago I had applied for reimbursement to travel to SF2016.
  5. Meet some incredible people and make new connections.
  6. Achieve certain financial goals.
  7. Work on improving my physical and mental health.

I write this to remind myself that I can overcome the struggles of life and to tell you that you can never stop if you hit a roadblock in yours. Seek help if you hit a low point and help others come up when you elevate yourself from the depths!

These lines are in my head, 8 years after I first read them in Ayn Rand's book, "Atlas Shrugged" back in 2009. It still feels so timeless and apt for this post, decades after it was originally published.

“Do not let your fire go out, spark by irreplaceable spark in the hopeless swamps of the not-quite, the not-yet, and the not-at-all. Do not let the hero in your soul perish in lonely frustration for the life you deserved and have never been able to reach. The world you desire can be won. It exists.. it is real.. it is possible.. it's yours.”― Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

Life should be anything but an opportunity wasted. If you have any dreams or desires, then you must do everything in your power to achieve them. There's fire inside everyone of us, use it to change the world around you and never let it fizzle out!

Inspiration can be found in many places. Even if we only inspire one person to a better future, we have accomplished greatness. You are doing a great deal of inspiring here @firepower! Yours is a very encouraging story.

I hope that Steemfest 2 is wonderful to you and everyone who makes it to such a wonderful gathering! I'm planning to get my passport in order so I can be there for Steemfest 3 next year! haha

Keep Steeming!!

Hey Mike, thanks for the words of encouragement buddy. Hope to see you in next SteemFest, get that passport sorted out before Steemfest 3. Cheers!

@firepower STOP SPAMMING AND STOP FLAGGING ME! For the evidence that @firepower is spammer please read my post https://steemit.com/steemit/@nationalpark/observation-and-analysis-firepower-of-spamming

Furthermore, he threatened me publicly on the blockchain:

He and s4s downvoted me 17 times:

I'm going to flag you till you rep goes down to zero! Have fun writing shit about me when you get there asshole!

This is threatening and unreasonable. It is a shame of you to say these words as a respected supporter and contributor to steemit. Well, I am new to steemit and I do not excactly know what you used to contribute, but now I am only seeing you contributing dirty words and violence to the community again and again. At least, Mr. @nationalpark has been polite all the time. Why don't you just fight back with the fact that you are not a spammer? Don't you have any weapons than dirty words and threatening? The blockchain is recording every single word from you. What if your children see these words in the future?

I totally agree that i've been very rude but not without reason. His claims are BS and steemcleaners have responded to his claims as well. Yet he continues to slander me because he's afraid to own up to his own mistakes but mostly that he's on a witch hunt. I dont need to take his BS or anyone else's on this matter anymore. If he stops slandering me I will stop my flagging else it'll continue till he and everyone else gets bored with his unnecessary witch hunting. I should have been calmer indeed and I tried to reason with him on Steemit.Chat when he approached me yesterday but im done wasting my time with him as he has continuously attacked me with multiple accounts. I'm known for my calm demeanor as well as my disregard for any BS behaviour towards me. I've fought real spammers and will continue to do so. Here's some proof of his most recent behaviour and the fact that he admits what he really is! If this is the kind of behaviour you want to support then it's just disappointing but not in the least bit surprising to me and I've seen it all here. Let this image, a proof of his admission of guilt stay on the blockchain permanently as well.

Who is steemlover?
What you want to prove with this screenshot?
I can prove you spammed Steemit, you and s4s downvoted me repeatedly, you harassed me, you threatened me.
What you can prove? What you try to prove with this screenshot?

You have been permanently banned from Steemit.Chat and any new sock puppet accounts that you create to perpetuate any hate and threats towards me or any member of the moderation team will be dealt with accordingly.

Let me tell you again, I do not know who is steemlover.
Also I want to tell you, I will write an article about the dictatorship and censorship of steemit.chat.
Thank you for providing the evidence for my new article. Thanks!

Thanks for your reply. I have never said that I am supporting Mr. @nationalpark. You have much higher reputation and more SP than him. Am I too stupid to be aware of what it means on steem? I was just disappointed with your dirty and threatening words and your violence. Now it is good that you are calmed down. I would like to see what the fact exactly is. I think I will learn a lot from you two guys about what spam exactly is and know what I can do or cannot do on steem.

Follow the @steemcleaners project to learn more about what classifies as spam and what doesnt around here. Perhaps I shouldnt have lost my cool and he shouldnt have slandered and threatened me either. Anyways, I have nothing more to add here and would prefer not to be bothered with this anymore. I have a lot of community work that I handle everyday than deal with some BS claims. Always a good idea to keep one's calm. We both can agree there I suppose. Cheers man!

I will fight with you, the spammer, to the end. If you, the spammer, cannot be cured, then I will not need to stay at steemit.

Good luck sock puppet spammer!

bro i m new.. and i am from india.. can you please help me to extend my value of account? and help me to understand steemit :D thanks :)

The person you mentioned is greatest person ever seen because he leaned to lot of people's that if you make mind and do hard work then you can do anything. Sometime we want to do lots of thing s but we not have that kida in so we have to give some fires inside to start it. Great Post Again and salute to always Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam.

Thank you for such an inspirational post.

I've decided to move abroad next year, not sure where yet though. I have had a fire in my heart to do this all of my life but, never had the opportunity until now. Feeeling slightly nervous about it but, I need to do it, before it's too late as, who knows how long I am here for.

Reading this post has inspired me to push harder for this and enjoy a new life, wherever that may be.

The fire is enough to get me there and I'm sure new friends along the way will keep that fire burning.

First of all, I'm glad that you referenced Atlas Shrugged, it's an excellent read. Ayn Rand gets a bad rap. Of course not all leaders of industry (or perhaps very few) are so virtuous as the characters in her book, so it speaks about a small niche, when so many bad examples abound.

It can be difficult to find the right things to focus our energy on. Societies seem designed to keep people busy working on basic necessities, instead of on the challenges which inspire us and make the world a better place. When not enslaved by the whims of one of the structures of power and dominance, many seek solace in entertainment.

It's far better to be "entertained" by something that offers financial reward, and also makes the world a better place.

Personally, I chose to live with nothing, rather than to "buy in" to a world view that doesn't serve the people who serve it. I've spent many years experimenting with ways to live outside of the expectations of others, and to live somehow in a way that feels good to me. I am very grateful to finally have found a community where all of my various skills and talents have a place, and are finding appreciation.

Physical limitations aside, I shall Steem On!

A M A Z I N G!!

You're providing a great service, in helping others to finding the road to GREATNESS.

Thank you so much for your kind words. :)

'Wings of fire' is my favorite book. A big fan of APJ Abdul Kalam.

Nice post again. Motivational and thoughtful. More Power and Fire to you :)

Thank you so much for your support.

Have you ever thought, that that fire was sparked inside you from reading Wings on Fire , Your fire burned gently keeping you going but when lifes obstacles stand in your way, that fire began to build and burn brightly to give you the determination and drive to overcome your obstacles-
Now think this, roles reversed- you may find that someone is reading this or reading any of your writings as you did when you were a young boy& a fire begins to burn inside them. Take inspiration and determination from that too. Well done

Wow! you got me thinking. What you said is true and I'm glad that am inspiring someone somewhere. Thanks a lot.

I took inspiration from it and I'm sure I was not the only one. Keep that fire burning and don't let anybody hose you down because we have people in this world that prefer the suffering rather than seeing happiness and enjoyment.

YES, I like your work .

And that is why I resteem

Thanks a lot.
