RE: Singapore Stories - Are You Ready for 100?
Yet we also understand that our parents do not think the same and they expect us to take care of them when they are old. As a result, I think we have the greatest stress when it comes to financial readiness
i have never thought of it and it's so damn true. We have quite the burden there so i am hopping if we reach 100 to at least have this stress relieved (or probably we won't reach 100 :P )
I think this is a common expectations in Asian countries and perhaps not so much in Western countries. We have much to do and plan for in our generation

it depends on the "western" country. for instance in most of the European countries they have the mindset that you are 18 years old now get out of the house and have your life. Meanwhile in Greece which i am and Italy-Spain-Portugal that we have same mindset (cause of our history) the bonds of family are "sacred" Kids will stay even after 18 years old with their parents, and when they finally take their own place it probably gonna be near to their parents or relatives.
In Greece it is quite common that in an apartment building everyone to be a relative :P. The parents build the house they give one apartment to each child and then they form their own families and we have an flat with only relatives :P This ofc means that the children that stay close to their parents take care of them and helping them!
That's why when i went to china the similarities with Greece i discovered were many more than i ever imagined
