The Lockdown Series - Day 7

in #life5 years ago

Such a cool day to live in so far, new week have already started and over here people are busy with their daily schedules and me for instance I have an interview to go and just relaxing on my seat to meet whoever is to conduct the whole thing, but I have to relax my mind by doing what I like best thus drafting a post for publication. To some people, they may see this as weird but that’s me.

Well finally we ended half of the 14days partial lockdown last night in my country and so far so good people are coping with the process, while others in the areas of lockdown are also going wayward. So last night the President had to address the nation on the update of the situations we have at hand and I will underline few ones I can remember down. There were great stands he took though and I highly appreciate his efforts.

As the father of the nation, he thanked all the frontline workers (the health workers, the security forces and all other stakeholders) for the great efforts they have pulled up since the very day the incident happened in the country till now. As at now we (Ghana) has 214 confirmed cases with 5 deaths and 3 recoveries. The president condemned all citizens who keep on spreading false video of security personnel assorting citizens, since those create more fear.

The government is working hard to achieve its main objectives to keep every citizen safe and that within the first week of the lockdown about five thousand (5000) contact traces have been made and results will be in place as we move on within this week. Such a large number though and the expectation now will be very high. Such a critical week it will be for us as a country.

The president went on to say, eight million Ghana cedis would be released from the donations received so far to help fight this virus, and that the government will work with other faith based organization to provide food to some deprived areas within the lockdown areas. In addition, the government is going to absorb water bills for the next 3 months in these zones of lockdown.

As at the time of speech last night, the president made it clear that Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) like hand sanitizers, gloves, nose masks among other have been dispatched to all district hospitals in the country. He further stated that all taxes of the health workers will not be in play for the next 3 months ahead of us, to motivate them work endlessly to the end of the pandemic.

Lastly, the President made the nation aware that 50% of basic salaries will be paid to all health worker at the frontline as allowances and that buses will be around to convey all health workers to and fro from work at no cost.

These are a few of what I remember and will update you guys on the rest later. But for now let’s all keep being safe, because we only live once.
