Earthquake Drill in School, a Drive to Make Students Aware of the Things to Do in Case of Disaster
Hello Steemians worldwide, it's nice to be back here. A very short time I can spend here because of a busy schedule for the start of classes in the second semester. I just want to say hi to everybody and to acknowledge that I am still kicking and with wide eyes opened.
The picture above is one of our school activities to foster safety and develop awareness to our students of what actions may be done in case of a disaster. The students were gathered in the evacuation area in our large school ground estimated to be safe ifever our school building may collapse. This was facilitated by our trained personnels by the Disaster and Risk Reduction Management agency of our local government here in the city of Lapu-lapu. The first time we did this, we were assisted by the trainors from the said agency until we did it in our very own with the help of all teachers and staffs in school.
The earthquake immediate action Dock , Cover and Hold was executed while students from different storey of the building came down to the safe area. Teachers will be the last to close the classroom door to ensure that nobody is left inside. We keep on joking with our colleagues whether if in case there is a real disaster, can we follow this order or we lead to be the first to escape among our students because of being panic.
Classes at this hour maybe affected, students are not informed ahead that there is an earthquake drill but we can be aware through the loud bell sound of the speakers installed in the corridor. In my own point of view, the lessons missed are not worth to the knowledge learned on how to maintain safety and even how to save lives, The awareness can also be shared to their families and friends on how to be alert in case of emergency.
Natural disaster may occur anytime, but I believe that prayers and being a follower of the loving God can help so that we might be reminded to call Him in most cases that we became away from Him.
