Abdul Hafeez is my childhood friend, we studied together, and we live near to each other. After school and college, I passed a test of an engineering university and I left my hometown to peruse further studies, Abdul Hafeez was not that much intelligent and clever so, he was unable to clear any test and he carried his studies in our hometown in arts. 

Our friend circle went on with their lives in different jobs and sectors, I am an engineer a blogger, some friends are working in the health sector and some in medical, but Abdul Hafeez is still struggling to find a path. 

He got a job

 Now what I am about to tell is a true story without any added spice, this story is about Abdul Hafeez and his previous job in one of the Mobile Networking companies “ZONG PAKISTAN”.

 China Mobiles is the parent of Zong Pakistan, Zong is the biggest mobile networking company in Pakistan, they provide “sim cards” and Wi-Fi devices. Abdul Hafeez secured a job in one their franchises in our hometown “LARKANA”, he worked there as a CSR.

I was out of town and I received news that he got a job and I was happy for him because, in Pakistan, it is very hard to secure a job in recent economic crises and political massacre. 

Now the problem with Abdul Hafeez is he has a very childish and pure brain, he is very innocent and doesn’t know any social activities and modern era tricks, I was worried for him and wanted to talk personally. 

We finally met and I asked for about his job and all that stuff, he told me everything and I was blown completely, my jaw just hit the floor and I was shocked to hear about his job status and injustice of ZONG mobile network which is a multinational company.

 I want to share all those things that were happening inside the franchise and what Hafeez told me.   

Injustices within franchise    

His salary was PKR: 7000 (USD 50.29)

I know Pakistan is 3rd world country and our economic conditions are not that good but only $50 per month is not only an injustice but it is a crime, even peons and guards were earning more than him in that same franchise and it is absolutely nothing as far as salary is a concern.  

12 hours duty timing without any lunch break

In a modern world, we have advanced in many ways like facilitating our employees with short breaks and less ergonomics but in Zong franchise, Hafeez was suffering from 9 to 9 duty timing without any lunch break or any other break. Just imagine what it can do to your back and your mind if you are working 12 hours continuously and you are easting your lunch standing while dealing with customers and all that stuff, absolute savage!    

No holidays or sick leave

Hafeez told me that they were not giving him any day off in the week not even Sunday or Fridays, no sick leave or half day, considering the biggest mobile networking company in Pakistan, this was below their standards, I wonder if the headquarter knew about this low salary situation and the injustice with their employees.    

No bonus or TA/DA

Let’s be honest, at this point, it was obvious for us to think that Hafeez was not going to receive any bonus or TA/DA, now we all have made up our mind about this bizarre franchise and injustice and violation of human rights.      

Incomplete Targets

Abdul Hafeez told me about the monthly targets, all the employees were designated with monthly targets by their manager and all of them must complete all targets because the bonus was waiting in the end. The truth is, Hafeez, completed the targets and they deducted his salary! Now all of you must be thinking that it is crazy but his manager told him that he was a little short of his target, in order to sell all the Wi-Fi devices, he bought some devices form the salary of his employees to complete the target and he told him that in the next month, he will receive some bonus but that never happened.  

 I convinced him to leave the job and he did, it is bizarre to think that one the biggest mobile networking companies were doing all that injustice to his employees, it was against human rights and it was savage. Now I am teaching him about blogs and graphic designing, and I hope that poor guy gains some happiness and injustice in this cruel society.
