My Thoughts on New M. Night Shyamalan Movie Trailer "Glass" [SPOILERS INSIDE]
Oh yeah! I'm real super pumped! Funnily enough, it wasn't too long ago that I actually got to watch Split for the first time. Not really expecting much, I was pleasantly surprised. Knowing it was directed by M. Night Shyamalan, I assumed there was going to be the obligatory twist, probably near the end somewhere. But given a few of his more questionable projects in the past, this aspect of the movie was gonna be either a hit or miss. Well, it certainly turned out to be a "hit" for me. As weird as this seems, I was actually pondering over the possibility of "that" ending about halfway through watching, but soon after thought nothing more of it. So what is this big reveal then?
[HUGE SPOILERS AHEAD]
The fact that the entire movie takes place within the Unbreakable universe. What a curveball, right? I mean, you were watching a comic book movie all the while and not even realising it. If he planned this setup from the get-go, I consider this an ingenious achievement. So, by Split's climax, one question was left dangling in the air. Is the movie a simple one-off or was the mind behind this intriguing concept just going to further the story-line into other sequels. I mean, Bruce Willis as "David Dunn" squaring off against newly born super-villain "The Beast" James McAvoy? Surely that's a premise too "potential heavy" to miss out on, right?
Well, yesterday, we all got the answer. New movie in the now trilogy, Glass is to have it's debut premiere in January 2019. Very exciting stuff, I must say. All the more so because of Shyamalan's track record. From the lofty heights of blockbuster The Sixth Sense (that I thought was more than a little head scratching in it's conclusion.) to career lows of Lady in the Water and "The Last Airbender", his run of successes is sporadic, to say the least. However, a "home-run" from this newest addition to his library could solidify a return to form once and for all. The trailer gave away enough to showcase that it contains all the elements fans are craving. Recasting most previous cast members back for this third outing.
Most considered "Unbreakable" a fresh spin on the same old formulaic comic book overload we've been subjected to for so many years now. Original and intelligently thought-out works are few and far between these days. This movie has the makings of being great splattered all over it. And I was impressed enough by what I saw. So will it step up to the plate and deliver? Only time will tell, but the early signs appear very promising indeed.
Check it out below and let me know what you think?
Don't even mention that awful movie, it ruined my childhood memories! I watched the avatar cartoons more than 20 times! I was hyped for that movie! I was so disappointed...
Let's hope that the new glass movie is not a huge disappointment too... Split was a masterpiece!! And.... I'm probably going to rewatch it today xD Looking at the trailer i think the movie will be good and not a total let down at all, let's just hope that i'm right!
All the signs are looking positive at the moment. Let's hope the movie does that trailer justice! :)
