A fantastic walk, in the sun, through the Dutch Polder and a late lunch with Bianca.
Today was the first day since a long time that the sun showed its face.
It's been very grey in the Netherlands for weeks so that was a welcome surprise.
Steemfat 3 is in full effect but I didn't feel like going to the gym this morning.
So I decided to have a 50-minute walk as a substitute.
It might not burn as many calories but a bit of sunshine on the face must be healthy too right?
I walked in a polder called Krimpenerwaard, which is not far from my house.
A polder is a big piece of land, surrounded by dikes, that has been pumped (early days windmills, now electro engines) free of water.
Basically a good example of what the Dutch are known for worldwide, water management.
The land is roughly 2-3 meters below sea level.
The sun was out and clear blue sky. It was beautiful.
Even though it's 'dry' land. We still need to have these levies all over to deal with the groundwater.
In the summer animals (cows mainly) walk free here and they put these grates on the paths so they can't cross them.
After the walk Bianca and I went for a drive to Bergambacht. It's a small city deep inside the Krimpernerwaard. It's an old town. Very quiet (especially on a Sunday) but nice.
I wanted to take Bianca to a place called 't Centrum. I go here sometimes with @s3rg3 too, for meetings.
Inside they have this old movie poster theme that I really like.
As per Steemfat I ordered fresh juice which again is no substitute for the best beverage in the world.
For lunch we had eggs. I ordered mine with roasted beef instead of cheese and bacon. It was delicious and I think healthy enough. There was even salad!
I think weather can affect my mood a lot. I love a bit of sun even though it can be cold. Makes me happy. And I think Bianca even more (she's from Brazil). We had a simple yet great day!

Looks like a lovely day out. The Netherlands really is one of my very favourite countries and I got to see some small towns like that one on my cycling trip last year. Hope to be back again in 2018!

It's great that you finally had a nice day in the Netherlands after so many grey days. Walking doesn't burn as much calories as going to the gym but t's low impact. Also, since you did it while the sun was out you also got some sunlight exposure so you have extra natural vitamin D production.
Wow, the countryside there looks like the perfect place to go for a run. I wish I had those nice paved paths where I live.
Simple days always feel great! :) I can relate to weather affecting my mood as well. When the sun is shining I always tend to be happier than usual. Wish it shinned all the time...

It's only available for iOS at the moment. We are currently looking for an Android developer.

oh really? i thought its only winter without snow just like here on UAE, i will definitely include netherlands on my bucket list of countries i will visit someday :)
