Escape from the world: why do we want solitude?

Many people dream of leaving the city one day.

Younger people want to have a huge mansion in a good area, while older people, reconciled with reality, slowly build a small summer house.

Why?

Because people want control over their lives, they want privacy and they want peace. People want to manage the space around them and not share it with anyone. They want to be masters of their little kingdom, you know?

People don’t want to depend on noisy neighbors, garbage in the stairwell, noisy cars under the windows, crowds in the subway and traffic jams.

They want to build their life only around themselves and their own concerns. In a place where no one bothers you to be yourself, where you do not need to adapt to anyone. In the place where you are the protagonist of the work, and the space around you reflects your story. Where you do not need to constantly share a place in the book with other people, superfluous and inappropriate.

And there, on the top of the mountain, on the endless green fields, on a tropical island in the middle of the ocean, in a sweet and luxurious solitude, a person will finally find the very enlightenment that he has been preparing for his whole life.

And no one will stop him from doing this.
