How African women fall in love
It was a sunny afternoon in the middle of February, 12th of the month actually. The atmosphere in town was generally heated up as it was a season of love. Valentine's Day is surprisingly regarded highly in Uyo, the capital of Akwa Ibom State, Nigeria. The metropolis would experience unusual influx of visitors; mostly indigene who live and work elsewhere in the country or abroad other than in the state.
Brand new cars and foreign outfits could be sported in numbers all about town and the 'Americaners' will generally walk around with that air of superiority as though they weren't aware that such era had long espired.
People shop in twos or group of twos in this period. Babymmi, for this was her nickname, walked close to the rails along the plaza bypass searching few items to buy. The bypass was the centre of town well build as some sort of part but a few traders had taken over part of the structure and turned it into some kind of open shops mostly for clothing and footwear.
Today, she planed to purchase a shoe at least for her man. She met with him months back; march last year and this will be their first Valentine celebration together. In this parts of the globe, it is a somewhat difficult fit to find commitments in relationships, especially from the males not to talk less of finding a perfect fit who is ready to commit to a woman in total facts. Lobbo was that handsome, gentle, intelligent and independent man who had shown unusual commitments in these past months, she considered herself blessed to be in the relationship as vowed not to joke with the bond.
She walked in in front, just now, she spotted a sandal which looked adorable and affordable at the same time, she moves closer for a better look, the item was cute but then she wondered if lobbo will love it. In his case, he was one young man of about 31 years of age who had an air of uncommon class around him. She hesitated for a while but then she engaged the trader.
"how much does this go for?", "about N 6000" replied the young man, she immediately knew the item will go for about N 5000 but she wished she could afford to buy him something that could worth close to N 20 000. Well she was yet done with university but she had always believed one could get rich while still undergraduate. She hated the usual sting in the society where a large percent of women seemed to be dependent on their men and more painfully, has adopted such ideology as a norm.
She reach her handkerchief to dab at a few trikle of preparation, just then Ukeme walks close by, she shifted inwards to give her some space but it was obvious he had stopped at the shop because she was there. George was an ex boyfriend.
Her phone rang the usual assigned ring tone and here comes the usual voice at the other end but with an unusual tone " where are you now?" lobbo queried."what is going on there" , she shifted back quiet surprised, just then loobo pulls up close to the same shop and almost jumps down from the car, approaching dangerously through the thin crowd..........
Get ready for part two, loading......
