How To Survive A Convention, On a budjet! Cosplay Hacks 0.1
No matter your nerdy niche, whether it be comic books, anime, video games, Film, ext, we all experience those last minute convention readiness issues! Almost every year, I or someone else in the group runs into a bump in there convention experience, and it seems no matter what we are just NEVER ready! But, through my 8 years of con experience, I have put together a kit that makes the event substantially easier! Here I have put together for you a detailed list of basic items to bring with you to help prevent those last minute mishaps at the con!
Breaking this down for a moment, what are the most common issues we run into at conventions? Injury's, Costume malfunctions, loosing items, and rumbling tummy's! So take put together this handy pack before heading out for your convention weekend, most of the items listed below can actually be bought at your nearest dollar store!
A Good Bag:
Make sure It's a bag style that you would feel comfortable carrying around with you most of the day, easy to carry, and enough room for your listed essentials. Be sure to be mindful of size as well! to large and you could annoy your neighbors in line!
Camera/Phone/Electronics:
When going to any event, you want to be able to document your memories, so it is important you bring you Camera, even if that is just your phone! You may also want a handheld gaming system, or a tablet to keep you distracted in long lines!
Chargers:
Possibly even more important then the electronics themselves, always remember to pack chargers for your devices, ad batteries if that's what they require!
First Aid Kit:
Whether you get one fully stocked ( which i believe is available at the Dollar Mart) or you buy your items individually to build it, make sure you pack; Band-aids, ointment, pain relief medication in-case of headaches, and chap-stick!
Food/Water:
Of course pack your favorite munchies, but don't forget to pack water, and other small food items to help give you energy through the weekend like protein and granola bars! Its such as mio are great to add flavor to your water, and electrolytes back into your body!
Notebook/Sketch Pad:
Note-pads are great for taking notes at panels and planning the events you want to go to that day, You can draw on your downtime, as well as get signatures in your sketchbook.
Mini Sewing Kit:
Pick up one of these little bad boys at the Dollar Store for sure!! complete with needles, thread, safety pins, and buttons to fix all your sudden costume malfunctions!
Deodorant/ Body Spray:
Conventions are an active place and you end up walking a lot, to avoid feeling embarrassed or uncomfortable, be sure to bring one of these items!
Misc.:
Other items I have found to be useful at conventions, is tape, super glue, lotion, hand-sanitizer, and a lanyard to keep your badge and keys on!

I always made sure to have an extra phone charger and a power strip in my bag. People who bring power strips to cons, and share while waiting in line, are super rad. They've saved me numerous times.
