Life Adventure Tip: How to Turn In Your Notice To A Job That You Like
Hola steemit amigos! This is Echo Cadence here bringing you another round of awesomeness!
In my previous post, I had mentioned that I am making a huge move with Mr. Lover Boy to Arizona! WHOO HOO! Between finding out and today, we've been stressing out over a number of things: where are we gonna live, flight tickets, pet deposits, breaking lease (which is a no no!), budgeting our move. All the fun stuff.
To be honest, the biggest thing that has been stressing me out was turning in notice to my job, which I had only started not even 3 months ago. To make matters worse is that I very much enjoy my position, and if I could pack my job into my suitcase and take it with me to cacti land, I totally would.
I didn't know what to tell my employer and I was so, so scared out of my mind to go in and tell them that I was moving away. I really wanted to leave on a good note and my brain kept making up scary scenarios in my mind.
Well, I gave my notice this past Monday morning, and guys... it went great! I mean, it was sad; my boss really likes me and I her, and in the short time that I've been here we've been through so many tough experiences. All the same, she wished me the absolute best and said that I can most definitely list her as a reference. :)
Thus, this post is for you awesome steemers who, for whatever reason, have to leave a job that you adore.
Pointer #1: Don't overthink it! I did that and I had nightmares leading up to me giving notice.
Pointer #2: Draft the Notice Letter the night before you intend on giving your employer notice. If you have never done a notice letter before, you can use the draft I used down below:
Date
Dear Employer/Supervisor Name,
It is with a heavy heart that I have to tender my two week/month notice. My last day will be Month date (time too if you intend on leaving early).
My time spent with this company has been absolutely wonderful! I have learned so much from your guidance and will forever utilize the work experience I have gained throughout my time here. I would not be leaving if not for (list reason here). I will miss this post, the experiences that come with it, but especially working along side with wonderful individuals such as you and my co-workers.
Best of wishes to you and (company name) in all of your endeavors. I will miss you all and think of you often.
Please let me know if there is anything I can do to assist in smoothing this transition and if you require assistance in finding or training my replacement.
Again, I am sorry to leave and thank you for all that you've done.
Sincerely,
Signed Name
Printed Name
You can edit and change this draft however you like! But please keep in mind that it's super important that you sign your name at the bottom. It gives the impression that you put your heart into the letter.
Pointer #3: Turn in your notice first thing in the morning in person. Don't email or mail the letter to your supervisor/manager until you've seen them or speak to them via phone. I know, I know, this kind of social interaction makes you want to throw yourself off of a balcony or hide under a blanket. It sucks, but it's the right thing to do and after you do it you will feel loads lighter.
Pointer #4: They won't be mad; sad for sure, but if it's a job that you've truly enjoyed, your employer won't be upset with you.
Point #5: DO NOT TELL ANYONE ELSE OTHER THAN FRIENDS/FAMILY OUTSIDE OF WORK THAT YOU'RE QUITTING BEFORE YOU'VE TURN IN YOUR NOTICE Bad, bad, bad idea. Just don't do it, stay away from Facebook, Instagram, Tumblr. Just stay quiet until you've turned it in.
And that's that! You can breathe easy now that's over and done with.
Do you have any pointers about turning in your notice with grace? Share them with me! I love input~

Aw, thank you so much! :) And I will! A follow for a follow, my dear friend?
Have fun, be active. Ride a bike instead of driving, for example.
Hi there~ That's a good point, but I'm curious as to how riding a bike can help someone in easing the stress of turning in notice to a job that they like... perhaps riding a bike can burn off the stress?
