4 week inspection of Top Bar Hive plus DIY sugar feeder

in #life5 years ago (edited)

Join us as we dive in for a look at how our hive is doing 4 weeks after installing a nucleus colony into our Top Bar Hive. I'll also show you how I made a very simple DIY sugar feeder to supplement our bees.

cool tour of your hive, I would love to keep bees some day when I own property. Cheers

Thank you. They are beautiful critters, and so gentle so far. We love them.

Will you be making use of the wax from the abandoned ones you remove?

We thought abut using it, but probably not at this stage. Those frames are from a commercial beekeeper so I don't know the content/quality of what was used in the foundation, so for the small amount of wax we would get, it's probably not worth it. We will definitely be using all the wax we get from the combs that are harvested for honey.
