Dengue Fever
So my daughter Ms 9, it seems has Dengue Fever. So I thought I'd look it up to have a better understanding of what she's going through.
The Queensland Government health website says: http://conditions.health.qld.gov.au/HealthCondition/condition/14/217/284/dengue
Typical symptoms may include:
- sudden onset of fever, extreme tiredness
- intense headache (especially behind the eyes)
- muscle and joint pain (ankles, knees and elbows)
- loss of appetite, vomiting, diarrhoea, abdominal pain, a metallic taste
- flushed skin on face and neck, fine skin rash as fever subsides
- red rash on arms and legs, itching, peeling of skin and hair loss
- minor bleeding (nose or gums) and heavy menstrual periods.
So. That doesn't sound fun.
My poor baby girl 😢
The website notes that it can be less severe in kids, and thankfully the symptoms come and go but are mainly general aches and pains and headaches for her. Let's hope it clears up and goes away without anything more severe happening.
Fingers crossed.

My 'granddaughter' got it a couple of months ago - 4 days of liquids and rest, and she was up to mischief again in no time.
Cool - thanks for the reassurance!
Hi! I'm a cuban doctor. Certainly is a very painfull disease, and certainly it curses with very high fever episodes, but you should keep calm. If your little princes get rest, take enough water and take acetaminofen (never aspirin) as dr prescription everything will be fine. God bless you and your baby girl.
Much appreciated Doc!
Hey!! i passed through this sickness to, give her a lot of liquid from coco and she will recover fast!!
Thanks for the tip 🙃
