HOLIDAY REPORT. DRWOM. SUNDAY 14 JANUARY 2018.

Even bad things pass. But so too do good things. Like holidays.

For a month now I have been on holidays. Nice work if you can get it, yeah? But alas, today is my last day.

So here, my esteemed steemit colleagues, is my holiday report to you. As you will see, I learnt some, relaxed a lot, overcame the petty attempts of the gods of mischief and mayhem to derail my zen, and had a ball.

The holiday was divided into two neat parts, with a very quiet New Years Eve spent at home in-between.

Part 1: New Zealand (North island)

How good is New Zealand? Really good. Despite the gods of mischief and mayhem (hereafter the GMM) having a fine-old time here (a couple of days in to our trip, my suspected earache was diagnosed as a return of the dreaded pox (chicken pox, that is, I had it as a kid - it's called shingles for us oldies) plus on the same day we were involved in a multi-car pileup - yeah thanks for that GMM.

But yes. NZ North Island is awesome and fun and friendly and relaxing and adventurous. Plus they serve hobbits in the sushi, apparently. As a vegetarian I didn't try one. Well, that, and the shop was shut.

Part 2: The BEACH!!!!

One the second part of our holiday, my wife had to work sadly, so it was just Ms 8 and me. At the Beach. THE BEACH!!!!

Summer holidays just aren't the same for me without some serious beach time. It is my ideal form of relaxation.

These holidays I had some very specific goals to meet over this particular part of the holiday season: having adventures, being creative, singing, reading, playing and listening to music, and playing games. And importantly:

Relaxing.
Meditating.
Writing.
Recharging.

So I must have been pretty good at this, because there are some things we still need to do next time 😁

Conclusion

What can I say. It's been great. It will take a lot of relaxing next year to top it!

Especially good this year, I have found, are the therapeutic benefits of steemit - on top of its other obvious attractions. But this leads to one of my biggest challenges this year: trying to maintain this therapeutic benefit from my one-post-a-day commitment on steemit instead of it becoming an additional source of stress.

Because I'm pretty sure we all have enough stress without creating more out of something that should be fun.
