Does Universe have a Hard drive??
In the pursuit of understanding universe and its laws, man sometimes surpasses the bounds of his own reality. This has happened time and again with many great scientists that are responsible for the world, the way it is now.
They looked into things that were abstract, created postulates that were written in an ether we cannot see.
These postulates, when confirmed, became the laws of nature. Our understanding of them became a discovery.
It is said they have always existed and continue to control everything around us. We have just begun to understand it. Ever since we developed a cognizance of the cosmic rules, we got the controller of our planet. Is it now we who guide it.
But understanding things that we cannot see is hard. We often relate such complexities to things that are already there, that we interact with in day to day life to understand them better.
Sometimes, in this process we attain encounter eureka moments, sometimes we end up corrupting the beauty of fundamentals that dictate everything.
So let us unravel the Mysteries of the universe by dumbing it down through analogies. Let us understand the forces of nature by asking the question- Does Universe have a hard drive?
Finding answers through analogies
Going with the tradition of relating inconceivable complex things with observable realities that surround us, let us take the example of a laptop, mobile or a PC. They all work based on some operating system that gets loaded from the hard drive, which stores all the processes pertaining to it.
Now let us compare this to the nature. The universe that we live in can be seen as the device. The laws of nature will be the operating system. All is good so far. But the interesting part begins when we dwell on this second analogy and carry it forward.
Everything that we observe is governed by one of the four fundamental forces- gravity, electromagnetism, weak and strong interactions. All of these forces have some magnitude. They cannot be non zero. Yes, they cancel out each other, like the kinetic energy cancels out the potential energy by they intrinsically have some value. We so easily put them down on paper. But where do they exist in the universe?
Proceeding with the quantum theory and general relativity, these should exist as some form of matter or energy.
Now this doesn't account for the phenomenon that works on the Classical mechanics of Newton. For example- Gravity.
But whatever the force be, it must exist in some hard drive. Just like all operating systems are stored on a hard drive!
One view proposed by Zura highlights that it is possible that gravity is classical and the laws of physics are somehow encoded via gravity.
Or simply, the possibility is that the law of physics are what they are. And mentioned earlier, in our attempt to understand it, we may have ended up corrupting the beauty of fundamentals that dictate everything and we have no idea how the laws of nature are encoded and where they are stored!
