The Plumber or Emotionally Drained. Expats Series 03 Episode 05

in #life3 years ago (edited)

-Wake up! We almost missed it,- Adrian was very emotional as the whole past week they waited for a plumber to come and promised to ring him Saturday morning to remind about the visit. - We need to make the call!

-One minute early,- replied with sleepy voice Helen. She had to make that call as Adrian after 10 years in the country still didnt learn the local language. The fact that everyone speak English doesn't really help.

True to their word she phoned the pumber.

  • Who is it?- The man's voice on the other side of phone line was not very polite.
  • A reminder, - Helen started talking trying to sound cheerful,-you said to call you 9 o'clock Saturday morning regarding our drainage issue.
  • What. What time do you think it is now?- replied the plumber rather rude.
-Nine...nine o'clock, - said Helen with a bit trembling voice as it seemed something is going wrong here.
-Did you know it's only 7 o'clock and it is Saturday indeed!- exclaimed plumber and then hang up.

Oops. Helen looked at Adrian.

  • What have we done, he would never come to us. I would never call this man again. It's only 7!
    -Is it?
Adrian checked time. It was 7:02 Saturday morning. Oops
-Sorry hunny, my eyeseight can be quite blurred at mornings. But how you didn't see that's not 9 o'clock, - he said
-Dunno, I looked on minutes digitals...not hours. Also on this old phone evrything is so small, easy to confuse 7 and 9.

Ah moral of the story: don't make calls in the mornings, especially on weekend!
