Why did I quit my first well-compensated,has-so-many-perks,not-that-stressful kind of job?
I quit my job last month.
For the past year, I worked with the government, specifically the Department Of Energy(DOE), but not the typical 8-hour office works in the city, I was given a special project and I was sent on an isolated Island named Semirara Island somewhere in the Province of Antique. My job is to stay on the Island and audit this certain mining company. If it is following the rules and regulations given by the government etc. So basically, I'll validate the data given by the company, some computations, attend meetings, talk to the department heads, make a technical analysis and comprehensive report about it and send it to the main office. Relatively, it is an easy job for me.
(P.S. I won't upload pics of the mining site out of respect to the company because it is one of their rules)
off to work haha
doing some work hihi
Attending meetings
Okay, let's go to the fun part.
Aside from a relatively high salary(twice the normal entry salary of a civil engineer), I have so many advantages on this job. Let's have a list.
1. Free foods
Our every day free buffets. Breakfast,Lunch,Dinner.
Wow, this is why i gained so much weight. Hahahaha
2. Free adventures!
If you are a nature lover like me, you will love this perk.
beaches are around 10 mins away from where we stay
gonna share some pictures
I also made friends along with the journey haha
drone shot of my friend, where we usually stay at night haha
Unong lake, we sometimes go here at afternoon just for the view. It has also zipline above the lake by the way. You can see it at the left side of the picture
So many baby mangroves planted just this past few months
not a good shot because I only took it with my phone and the fish are away from the colorful corals haha
also met different kind of animals
3. Free transpo (airfare and we have a free use of a car to work with)
I go to Manila once or twice a month
Lucky for me, I became friends with the pilot so I can sit on the front!
more picture haha
free use of the car around the island. It was a brand new Toyota Land Cruiser when I first use this.
3. Free accomodation
i dont have a good shot of where I stayed haha
because it is on isolated island, expect things like a crab going on to your front door haha
Basically, it is like an apartment. It has 2 rooms, 1 CR, sala and dining area. The living area and bedrooms are aircondition. Not hotel like but as long as it is free and comfortable, Im good with it. It comes with free laundry!! Haha, I didnt know I will share it in a blog that's why i didn't took pictures huhu talk about taking for granted JK HAHAHA
4. Free beers!
This deserves a spot and it is self explanatory. Free beers are always good! And we can have as long as we want! Hahaha
5. Unlimited use of facilities
olympic size swimming pool
with one of my work mate
We can use the facilities there, tennis court, basketball court, gym, boxing gym, badminton court, volleyball court. swimming pools. I don't bring phone when I go there that's why i don't have pictures huhu if I just know i will tell it to my blog i should have brought my phone haha
5. Cheap price of seafoods you can bring home
market is just around the corner and the price is very low. If compared to Manila prices, seafoods here are way way cheaper, almost like buying at a 70 percent discount!
bought this crab at 200php per kilo! It is a 1.2kg crab by the way
I hope you had an idea what life I lived on the past year on an isolated Island.
But why did I quit this job. It is because it is not what I want to do for the rest of my life.
I want to quote what Atom Araullo said last year,
When it's no longer fulfilling, even if you're comfortable with what you do, don't hesitate. Walk away.
I like the Atom Araullo reference! I'm planning to quit my job myself for greater pursuits. This post might have helped in my decision.
Ganda pala sa Semirara! Malapit 'yan samen dito sa Capiz, bro. Haha
Goodluck sa future endeavors bai!
Gow!
Lagot sakin yang crabs na yan pag pumunta sya sa pinto ko. luto agad! hahahaha! grabeng job opportunity yan, baka pag napunta dyan si serg maging kasing laki mo na 🤣
hahaha next time sama sama na kame haha
Nakakaen ba un ang tanong lolsss
hahaha yun lang! malalaman po kapag naluto na hhhaha 😂
Good Decision! follow back
done sir!
I admire you for doing that. I must say it's a bold decision. Tho like you, it's important for me to enjoy what I do so I feel you.
What do you for a living now that you left your job?
Now starting a business, gonna share it on my future posts. Thanks for asking, btw!
Feel free to do whatever you like even if your decision doesn’t meet everyone’s expectations. It’s you who’s going to live with your decisions, not them.
Indeed sir. Thankyou!!
Pero miss mo na? Hahaha mwa
Hahahaha balik na ba ko be?
Oo ihahatid pa ba kita? Hahaha
love the quote dear... best of luck to your future endeavors
Thank you mam! Hihi
I applaud you for doing that. Most would probably not have the balls to do such out of the stability the job may provide, but kudos to you. Good luck on your future endeavors!
Thankyou!!!
