Stress takes on many forms. It may physical, mental or emotional. Would you believe that we also need some kind of stress in our daily lives? I t helps us solve day-to-day problems.It helps us escape life-threatening situation. But too much of it can seriously affect our health. In this stressful world you need to de-stress, relax and recharge.
- MUSIC. A proven relaxant. Choose music that has positive associations for you and sing along. For me, I choose to listen to JAZZ It has a therapeutic effect on me.
- WALK, RUN OR SWIM. Do any aerobic activity. Effective for office-bound people. If you are just living close to your workplace, you better walk, it won't hurt your feet. Use a comfortable shoes for walking and not your stiletto (for women). Bring extra clothes and change when you arrive in the office. Before I forget: use the stairs instead of escalators or elevators when your office is just on the 2nd or 3rd floors. Brisk walking early in the morning is also a good exercise or a few laps in the pool or a run in just a block in the subdivision where you live. A walk with your dog is a good exercise too. I do brisk walking it relaxes my whole body.
- SLEEP. It is like giving our body the time to do maintenance work on itself. All of us need an 8 hours of sleep to allow your body to recharge. A good sleep will also perk up your day when you wake up the following day.
- TAKE A BREATHER. Allow yourself a few minutes break once in a while. Read a newspaper or magazine. Chat with a friend for a minute or two. Do yoga for an hour to lift up your spirit and have positive vibes. As for me, I do meditation for I am working online. I do it after my morning prayer and affirmation.
- DANCE. It gives your body a refreshing feeling and will also lift up your spirit. Express yourself through dancing. I love dancing. I do the interpretative dance. It brings out the best in me and I have an alert mind all the time.
