Intellectual/Professional Competence: Mastering Your Craft
Mastering your craft, like I mentioned in the previous post, is one of the crucial requirements of intellectual competence. In this post, we'll take a closer look at how to hone your craft.

Mastery is definitely not a path of least resistance. It calls for a lot of effort and sacrifice. In honing your skills:
1. Commit Yourself To Regular Practice
Pretty obvious, right? . Mastery is unachievable without consistent practice! Create a strong practice routine and stick to it.
2. Have A Clear Definition Of What It Means To "Master" Your Skill
Benchmarking with the very best in your field makes this easy. This doesn't mean you should compare or compete with them, rather learn from them and focus on becoming better than who you were yesterday
"Stop competing with everyone else. Focus on becoming better than the person you were yesterday. Aim to be your best. Aim to grow" ~ Brooke Griffin
3. Be Patient With Yourself
Rest assured mistakes and challenges will come along the way but learn to appreciate your uniqueness, value the process, and focus on the results you desire.
4. Be Confident, But Humble
When you start getting better at your skill, it's okay to feel proud of how far you've come but don't let it get to your head. Appreciating your effort is a good morale booster and makes the learning process interesting; becoming too cocky, on the other hand, can ruin your progress.
"Success is not obtained overnight. It comes in installments; you get a little bit today, a little bit tomorrow until the whole package is given out. The day you procrastinate, you lose that day's success."
