Don't be so harsh on yourself, now. You are still on time. You only need to get yourself
few items before the March equinox approaches us and you'll be granted effortless prosperity and salvation; the snowstorms of yesteryear shan't affect you no more.

The Haft-Seen

Seven items starting with the 'S' letter, each one of them having their own semiotical reason and astrological significance, to be placed on the Haft-Seen table

• sabzeh or sprouts, originated mostly from lentils; symbolizes rebirth
• senjed or dried Oleaster tree's fruits; symbolizes love
• samanu or sweet germinated wheat pudding; symbolizes abundance
• sir or garlic; symbolizes Guy you get stuck with in the elevator every morning good health
• sib or apple; symbolizes beauty
• somaq or sumac berries; symbolizes the sourness of Life
• serkeh or vinegar; symbolizes patience & wisdom

Other items such as a bowl with a goldfish, coins, mirrors, poetry books can be a valid company to the aforementioned seven fundamental items to celebrate Nowruz.
All this effort to have these items infuse us with the hopes each one of them represent.

I am not very knowledgeable about this celebration. Obviously, being the good chap that i am, i'll just blame someone elses for my ignorance. Yet, i felt like it was my duty to provide you an introduction to this gorgeous event.

Regardless, i find the persian celebration of the 'New Day' perhaps the most original and picturesque among all the yearly events i am aware of.

Persians or non-persians, i wish you all to have a glorious day ahead of you that will remind you of the beauties that lie within our lives.
